    hey guys
    Ive decided to get some running boards for my truck. The dealer wanted 350 for them and wanted like 200 for installation which is ridiculous. Is it easy to install? and are there other choices for running boards? let me know. Thanks!!

    The running boards or the tube steps? Either one is easy to install. Your dealer is trying to hose you with a 200 install fee.

    Yea it was a crazy fee. I could only imagine how much they would charge for engine work. hah! Are there any tutorials on this site?

    I like the look of the running board because my truck is white and i plan to put some black wheels. Not to fond of the silver on the tube steps

    If it is anything like my x-sp running boards, the hardest part is squaring up the front to the back. There should be three brackets that bolt to pre-tapped holes underneath the cab, and then it just a matter of setting the board down on the brackets and tightening up three bolts, one per bracket.

    Ask to see the boards before you buy and look at the install sheet.

    You could also get a set of used tube steps and have them powder-coated black. That would look good on a white truck.

    that could be a good idea. How much did you get ur tube steps for if i may ask.

    also $350 seems a bit high for the steps. I found some for about $307. It depends on where you live about the shipping and tax, but it is probably worth checking out.

    Undercover bed topper, Nerf style step bars, Python alarm, Ham radio with 250 watt amp and chrome wheel well bling.
    I bought my truck last week and the stealer wanted $660 for tube steps installed. Unfortunately for him a Brother works in the parts area and steered me clear. The dealer cost was $250. I bought from a Rhino Lining dealer for $330 installed.

    You can get the tube steps in black, stainless or chrome. They are easy to install. I took the actual running boards on and off my 97 Tacoma several times.

    I can't remember off the top of my head. I bought them a month after I bought the truck. Dec 2004, I think. I want to say somewhere around 275 ish.

    You've probably already bought and installed them by now, but in case you're still looking for answers...

    I bought the
    $467 Toyota PT212-35055 Running Board
    Toyota PT212-35055 Double Cab Running Boards for my 2008. These are the standard style, not the tubular stye. I showed my dealer an Internet price of $298.95 and he matched it. It took about 20 minutes for me to install them (and that included taking time to talk with a neighbor). Tools required were a Socket wrench, 3" extension, 13mm and 7/16" sockets, a torque wrench and a slotted screw driver.

    Aside from the practical value, I like the looks.
