I feel for you! I lent my 2003 5 speed to a friend who could not drive a standard and he destroyed my universal joints. No good deed goes un-punished. If you take it to a good body shop, you will never know it happened.

Sorry you feel that way. Towards the end it actually got interesting in my opinion when the whole insurance thing was brought up by someone. A lot of good points, info, and interesting tidbits were learned I think about insurance.

 

This thread brings up a good point... We should all have good, and immediately on-hand excuses for not lending out our Tacomas... or anything valuable for that matter. It just depends on who is asking. Here are some good responses for people who have the nerve to ask:

Coworkers (have to be careful here, you may need something from them at some point, or god forbid, they become your boss):

-Which weekend did you need it? Oh damn, wouldn't you know, I have plans that weekend?
-I think I am having issues with my (mechanical component) and I really think I need to have a mechanic look at it. It may be nothing, but I would hate to put you and your family at risk.
