    Thanks for sharing.

I can see the stopping relates to breaking in the brakes,

don't tow to break in the suspension

so do you thin the 1000 miles is for the engine or the transmission?

    just out of curiousity

Well shit... I bought it and drove 250 miles home, then two more of those trips at constant 65mph. Stopped hard. Accelerated hard. And now at 1500 miles.... hmmmm mighta cut that life in half. I have not been easy on it. I figured a brand new truck would come broken in... :annoyed:

:frusty::facepalm::lalala:. In all honesty though, this does make me sad to think about. Any Techs on the site give me some insight.

Could I have royally fucked something?

    I'm at 900+ miles on my SR5 4x4 DCLB.

Agree with all of OP comments. Getting to take it off road this weekend so I'll get to use the 4 wheel drive and see how it climbs etc.

On the street I really like the stock suspension- feels like the Bilsteins that I had on another rig. Eats potholes and speed bumps and has almost zero body roll when accelerating into and out of corners.

Looking forward to upgrading the stock muffler to get a little more sound and performance and also adding an amp and sub. Didn't get the jbl system but the entune premium is a nice head unit to build around.

Still miss the 07 with 6 speed manual but have no compliants thus far with the 2016.

So far only upgraded the wheels and tires.
Next is the exhaust and K&N filter, amp and sub, and 5100's to level front end. That's the easily achieved list.

Anyone have aftermarket exhaust on the 3.5?
    Going with MagnaFlow most likely.

I like the look. But I find I'm stepping over them to get in my truck. Ironic, I know. They'd be more practical, I'm guessing, if (when) I lift it 2-3". But my 7yo finds them quite handy!

Yea, big help with cleaning up. And that's right - great door catchers. Will be great come holiday shopping season when I'm parking at the mall.

I heard that too from different people and for other makes as well. I Would have to assume the engine is broken in with no load from factory when the test the engine.

I would also assume the vehicles would need additional break in once the engine is actually in the truck with load. But this is all assumptions.

Me personally. I have driven the vehicle gentle but here and there. I do slowly let it get wot few times as I'm driving it during its break in period. Once it gets past 1000 miles. It'll be wot all the time. I'm at 850 now. Prolly another 2 days and I'll hit 1k miles.

It is after all a Toyota so I'm not too worried about it.

To keep the rotors from warping
Are not, I would think it's due to emissions but I am a firm believer in it not doing any harm. On my second 2nd gen taco I drove from the Houston dealer to Colorado and back with the cruise on 75 mph .. the truck was stout as a tank and no issues.

I also agree with almost every pro & con listed.

Coming from 2003 Chevy Cavalier this is quite the upgrade for me (got tired of running around in beaters all day and arguing how much money I was saving). I'll add a few others that aren't mentioned.

    Additional Pros:
The non-JBL sound system works great too!
The acceleration is great when you need it, just use the gas and it really does go even if it wants to hesitate starting up.
Console layout is great, I feel very comfortable in it.
    Cup holder galore.
Access Cab flip down seats really aren't that bad, had a co-worker even comment that he was surprised they were that nice. Still not a long haul sitting situation, but a 10 min drive to lunch apparently they were great.
Push-to-Start, key-less entry etc. are all great and nice to have on something that isn't a sports car or luxury SUV, these will eventually be standard everywhere I'm sure.
Digital screen is actually pretty easy to read in bright sunlight, I was expected much worse.

    Additional Cons:
The rear-view mirror is great at blocking vision, and on the access cab turning to check your blind spot (especially on the driver side) is really poor field of vision.
The low chin in the front makes me very sketchy creeping into parking spots because it is tough to judge. Only nudged one bush so far learning so nothing to serious.
Really wish we would have gotten another USB port on the console, as well as one in the center console. This really feels like a design oversight in this day and age.
When shifting from reverse to drive, the truck really seems hesitant to want to move for a few seconds. (I've tried giving it gas quickly and had it jerk forward on me so I didn't try that again)
All of the cup holders are *JUST* a hair to small for my water bottles.
Gas cover feels super flimsy like they specced it out 1 mm to thin during design.
The digital screen shows fingerprints really bad.

    Unsorted Final Thoughts:
People listen to their music much louder than me apparently, and I'm nearly deaf.
I should probably try the crawl control out at some point, 900 miles in and I have yet to use it.
How much longer until i can get key-less entry to my house?
Voice activation still can't understand me, not Toyota, IPhone, or Android. Universal issue for me.
I'm still paranoid around other vehicles, especially in parking lots because people are in general, inattentive A-holes.

Are not. But I really cannot see that this would make a difference. When I picked up my 15' Collie back in may from the dealership. First thing I did when I got out on the highway was set my cruise control. I'll do my new Tacoma the same way when I pick her up.
