Does anyone know how to take the dang thing apart to replace the LED's? I know there are two light accessable from the back of the unit, but I want to get on the inside and replace the orange LEDs. I have redone my interior with that of a 2015 and all LED's are clear white giving it a VERY nice look. Just need to do the A/C controls!!!!

    Thanks

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
Assuming that it is the same as my 2006, take a 1" putty knife, wrap a loop around the blade with black electrical tape, slide it under the temp control unit, work the unit out. There are no fasteners, just pins, it's very easy. The tape is to prevent scratching.

There are 2 lights with plastic bases, they illuminate a plastic light tube. Twist the beigh colored base and pull it out. OEM replacements are $10 each, someone may make an led to replace it or you will need a resistor in series.

There are no LEDS inside as far as I know. Just the bulbs.

I assume he was referring to swapping to leds. Tbere are posts about doing that, but no off the shelf replacements that I know of.

Yes there are direct replacements. I have complete replaced everything in my truck with a 2015 center dash and entune stereo and got rid of all the orange LED's in the console and shifter light. But was completely upset when the LED's in the A/C didn't make a difference. The material is orange so the only thing I know to do is some how get a 2014-2015 a/c controller:mad:
