Ok ladies and gents, this might be a little lengthy but I am deeply interested in your thoughts and onions.

So my original plan was to stockpile some parts and throw them all on at once. Lift, tires/wheels, and Softopper. I've got new/used front 5100's and used Icon 1.5" progressive aal. I'm still searching for Eibacks and rear 5100's. I found OEM 16" wheels for $75 a couple hours from home that I was going to paint a darker graphite color and then throw some 265/75r16 in either ST MAXX or STT Pro variants. Well things have changed, slightly, maybe.

On my way to lunch today the roads were wet. I started to turn and the rear started to slide out; I'm not one to turn down a little fun if the opportunity presents itself so I goosed the pedal a bit and went beyond traditional recovery. So since no one was around I decided to do a "cool" recovery and just spin it all the way around 360*. Needless to say I misjudged my distance from the curb and smacked my rear driver wheel into it. Looks like I now need a new wheel :). Also, flame on for driving inappropriately on public roads.

Now for my dilemma. As I stated, the original plan was 16" wheels. So here's my option list I've come up with:
    1. Go and buy the 16" wheels I found for $75 and then spend another $1000+ on tires and be set. Except I was wanting to paint the wheels before installing tires...but no biggie
    2. Find a single 17" wheel and swap it out with the damaged one until I decide to upgrade
    3. Run my spare tire til I decide to upgrade
    4. Because this even happened, it's making me second guess getting alloy wheels. I can't find any steelies on Craigslist in my area though, and haven't in the last 3 months, so I'd probably just order online. But at least with steel wheels they won't just break like these did, they'll just bend, which if absolutely needed is fixable if I understand correctly. And since I do abuse my truck more than most, this seems like a decent route.

Now I'm not real picky about wheel size. I wanted 16's to have more rubber between the wheel and obstacle, but I think 17's would work fine. Since I'm leaning towards steelies, and am already kind of planning on ordering online, should I go for 17" FJ steels and continue running my current tires till I am more financially comfortable with purchasing tires? Or just go all out and get 16's and tires? Or get the 16" alloys and tires?

Before you give me your advice, I've already patched my front passenger tire about a month ago and in the last week or so I noticed I have a slow leak in the passenger rear. So it MIGHT make sense to throw myself over the cliff and do tires and wheels?

My brain is dead from overthinking about all of this, weighing my options, and trying to price everything. Opinions, links, different ideas, flaming, bs, whatever you want to do in the spirit of helping :). Thanks in advance!

Edit since I know threads are worthless without pics...

After those statements.... I really don't know what to say. What are you 16?

You are lucky you didn't injure yourself or more importantly someone else. You need to have your license revoked until you are mature enough to drive on public streets.

You guys are right. I'll go turn in my license on my lunch break and I'll sign the title of the truck over to the first homeless person I see :)

Thanks Tacomike. I've seen how TW handles "poor driving choices" on the road and fully expected these types of responses. If I get enough replies I know somewhere amongst the bs I'll find something actually useful :)

That looks like the plan mwc273. What a pain in the ass just to get that spare on, only to remember the fun relationship between alloy lugs on steel wheels

I spent a lot of years acting like an idiot. Longer than most, and far more hardcore stupid than most, to be honest. But if a guy wants to post his dumbass juvenile stupidity on the intardnet for the world to comment on he, and you sunshine, shouldn't be shocked when a moron is called a moron. That aint PC.
