I just replaced them and noticed that the two bulbs they sent me for the map lights were two different types. The smaller one on the left was the brighter of the two. Also, that one had two contact wires on each side where the the bigger, less bright one only had one wire on each side.map lights 1.jpg map lights 2.jpg

Try swapping the bulbs into different sockets. If that doesn't work, for what you paid I would contact the seller.

Since they came in a 3 pack with the dome light I'll probably just keep them in the glove box for spares.

I did the Tacoma 9 bulb kit from Amazon. I know this doesn't help your situation but be carefull you don't bloe the fuse like I did. Not a tragedy by any stretch but there's no 7.5 extra fuse in the box. Lots of help in this forum

I've purchased LED replacements for my other cars. I would think it would be of course, be brighter and also draw less current. Somewhere I read that the polarity has to be correct. Last time I did it, I used a 9 volt DC battery and a old toy battery connector. Marked the polarity with some of my wife's red nail polish. Then checked the bulb socket to make sure which side was hot.
