Picked up the next step on the Expo build - this will be going on the All-Pro swingout along with the fuel cans. This will eventually be fueling a Partner Steel Stove on an AT fridge slider :hungry:

Hey man, NICE build. I like how you've documented everything and the attention to detail you have with your installs. I can be anal with my installs so I can appreciate your work. Good job and keep it up.

The one on my rack is from here. They have a few different sizes available if you search for "tactical case". If you order, google for some coupon codes, I used ST510 which brought the 18" case to $25.

Thanks man, I tend to go a bit overboard with some of the little things but have learned from last builds on some of my previous rigs to do it right the first time and avoid having to do rework or trail repairs later.

Lot's of big things are still coming on this build from undercarriage armor to lockers to some more overland oriented kitchen equipment; stay tuned!

I picked it up through Amazon here because I was able to use use credit card rewards to pay the tab. I also found it here for about the same price plus shipping.

It's not budget friendly but I just can't fit a standard 5lb or 10lb tank in the space I have on the All-Pro which would have been cheaper. I've seen them in steel between $50 and $70. Upside with this 6-er is it's super skinny (about 6" diameter) and is aluminum so it'll be the last tank I ever buy.

Did a bit of tinkering on my propane mount today in hopes of getting everything wrapped up this weekend. I had originally planned on using an off the shelf solution like a PowerTank mount or similar but the space on my @allpro bumper is a bit of a premium with my cargo so I'm going DIY.

I knew I wanted to use a lockable draw latch so I sourced a few from ebay that seem like decent quality.
    IMG_5065_zpsuzbxbivo_44992d9ea258f7a5008a9ff0aef1c3a67f24442e.jpg

I wasn't sure my plan was going to work with what scraps I have on hand but I was able to bend up what I'll call tank retaining bands using some 1/8" x 2" flatbar.
    IMG_5050_zpsmcrjim48_201ecd7d23a032f485f82e10739e0026442cfc0b.jpg
    IMG_5052_zpsxxbl7bed_9800077faeb86290a5c158ce17ec582b03970f25.jpg

The main carrier is 1/8" plate bent to an "L" shape 6" by 6" with an overall height of 15". On the base I have a fixed band to hold the base of the tank. The inside of the "L" and the bottom band will be lined with sheet rubber to eliminate rattles and make for a more snug fit.
    IMG_5053_zps8n5esbis_0458855061a66e0a106c1f7c3c4cdff76ce5a6cd.jpg

The hinge is DIY also using some 1/4" steel spacers reamed to take a 5/16" bolt with a snug fit. I'm using two 3/4" tall spacers for the fixed part of the hinge on the "L" and a single 2" on the hinged upper band.
    IMG_5054_zpservklwjo_999ffbe6f6335020853353af878168bc9f34b4e2.jpg

How it looks in mock-up - so far so good.
    IMG_5056_zpscz1ghjwh_50ac4dd67b9977f3abc41edd9d6a7d455378f777.jpg

Upper band bent up and latch going on:
    IMG_5057_zpszz3dyehp_301ce4fd70982c8457c1ffaf8da8da62d07671f3.jpg

Tossing on some paint before the end of the day.
    IMG_5063_zpsul3zpwci_eedf8f89d2c7545fb334416a3ebed50069bd06ec.jpg
    IMG_5064_zpsk82bjlpk_f188bea1277f6f38810fed72511feef536a72e10.jpg

I still need to finish this up this week for a trip for next weekend. I'm hoping to get it mounted on tomorrow and figure out the rubber isolators as well as getting the Rotopax cans mounted back up.

I am thinking that I may redo the bottom strap to match the top at a later time using a second hinged strap and draw latch. I'm concerned that the rubber may not be enough to keep the bottom of the tank secure and the rubber may not hold up - for now I think I'll give this version a shot.

Got some more work done on the rig today and finished up the propane mount enough for a trip next weekend.

I trimmed up and installed some rubber tread tape stuff to hold the tank secure and prevent any metal to metal issues.
    IMG_5071_zpsh9is1j3c_7f30bc80718240754817fa126f7268e34d404a55.jpg
    IMG_5072_zpszqorvxas_4f041ea2a3d9efca537366e231edf927d8be1c5d.jpg

Fits nice and snug now with the rubber in!
    IMG_5074_zpsqdvyzslp_1c53e5d5725736170af4aeb8af79b8f8a0d786eb.jpg

Mocking up width with the Rotopax slid over to the driver side. The height is just short enough that the cap door can be opened and closed with the driver swingout shut which is good for access to the fridge.
    IMG_5076_zpsubpk1pjh_aa37f1ff8eaa73308d91e67d26681560f92cc482.jpg
    IMG_5077_zpsikvhdlme_d0119154875b3b61bed2c5d4e37a89114bb94d35.jpg

Punched some holes and hung it up - I'm planning on adding a pair of u-bolts on the swingout tubes too to secure the bottom of the carrier. It seems secure enough now but I don't want a 6lb canister of propane bouncing around on the trail!
    IMG_5078_zpsodvo9kwp_2418e85939905d8b4739b5edb72a9d33ea93dfc4.jpg

Perfect, still enough room to reach the swingout latches too which was something I thought would be an issue with all the other gear.
    IMG_5084_zpsry9qwkts_7a2330f833eb1dab52bf62830ed2331b88eb7b1c.jpg
    IMG_5085_zpsofld8psh_d173e206c99213e6c0315ef76d6f9004c14a2cbc.jpg

Also installed my new decal from @spieler - I'm supper pleased with the understated look! He was able to cut me two versions, one that would go on the outside of the glass and one that could go on the inside. I didn't want something too flashy a guess so I put on the version that goes on the inside of the glass.

    Love the propane setup!
I'm to the point where I really don't want to mount anything else on the tiregate but I plan to make a similar mount for inside the bed.
