So its a good thing my wife says we need to wait before buying a Tacoma, because I keep going back and forth on every decision. I can't make up my mind on what I would like to drive. Long bed, short bed; 2nd Gen(2012-2015), 3rd Gen; Sport, Offroad. I know I want a DC auto. As of recent I feel I am leaning toward 2nd Gen offroad DCSB. I already know how awesome the 2nd Gens are and how much you can do to/with them. On the other hand, I feel if given the opportunity to own brand new, why not. Also would a short bed be enough? I know that argument has been done to death.

I've lurked the site for so long. I know there will be lots of helpful info, maybe some sh*t talking, but thats ok. and lots of 2nd gen 3rd gen debates. I guess mainly I just wanted to get my thoughts out there and welcome and helpful info/opionions.

    Welcome!

I would go to your local dealer and test drive the different models, see what feels right. That's what I did, went to buy a M/T LB after test driving a few I bought a SB Off road.

Hey MookTastic! Welcome to TW and thank you for your service. Maybe you should just ask your wife and then go with her decision. After she takes one for a test drive first though.

Okay. Here's what you do; Search the internet for a 2015 TRD Offroad Short Bed in the color you like at a dealer near you. Go buy it, and post up some photos. You will never be satisfied until you do, so don't delay. I fully expect you to follow my advise and thank me for it later. I just don't know what else to tell you.
Edit: Should have added DCSBFTMFW! Just do it.

Appreciate everyone's comments. I really do need to get out there and test drive some. I got some time. Worse case I can always hunt for a fairly new/used 2nd Gen if it came down to it. I look forward to the day I can start posting photos.

It just depends on what you want really. Do you plan to Offroad much? Would you rather have a scoop? Do you need a bigger bed? Want a sunroof or more technology? Etc.

I've had an 09 offroad shortbed dblcab, an 09 pre runner sport shortbed dblcab, 13 sport 4x4 long bed dblcab, and now finally a 14 dblcab shortbed baja.

Definitely like having 4x4 and a dblcab....thought I needed a longbed. It was nice but in the end I didn't need it. The shortbed is fine especially when you can add a bed extender.

    Definitely test drive em!!

You're over-thinking it. Really, I'm never wrong about these things. Buy it, you're going to have many years of great times with your new truck. I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting to see pictures.
