Ok, I get it. Was wondering what the XSP-X was all about. Did a Google search and discovered it's a package option available in the U.S. Not available in Canada.

I thought the wheels and fender flares were after market products.

Xspx is a special package that Toyota designed. Additional est. 7k not sure on wheel. I know there 17s tires are bfgw rugged.

I said 'what' in my post because I didn't realize the XSP-X was a package so I wondered what you were posting for people to see, now I realize it was you new new Tacoma XSP-X edition

No need to make him feel bad about his purchase. Some might say the TRD Sport package is a rip off as it has no mechanical/suspension advantages over the SR-5. Who cares about lipstick covered door handles, grill, mirrors and rear bumper? The scooped hood is subjective at best and the seats are not that much better then the ones in the SR-5 to be honest. Oh, and the TRD has the 17" wheels and tires. In Canada the TRD Sport package carries with it a $3,500 premium over the SR-5.

 

My mistake ment scoop is stupid design

 

For the BFG Rugged Terrain "All-Terrain but kinda not All-Terrain" tires and a set of generally unremarkable 17" rims... it should certainly not cost $2k, especially for tires of that size. We'll be extra kind and say that's maybe $1500 in rims/tires if we add the cost of install.

Bushwhacker flares are $500 for a set

Non-slider, bolt-on nerfy step bars are $360

Here, in the states, the XSP-X package is a classic money-making tactic by dealers to make a bunch of money on just-OK accessories that can otherwise be bought and installed on the aftermarket for less than half the cost of this package.

Do people want to bypass the hassle of doing research and finding all of these parts themselves? OP did. It is a nice truck, because it is a brand new Tacoma, and we love us some Tacoma trucks. I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out the fact that $7k is egregious markup, and the faux $2k discount to bring it to $5k is still an incredible markup. This is only because getting a SR5 and spending $5k in the aftermarket goes much, much farther than some stick-on accessories.

I don't think anyone is trying to make OP feel bad... I think most of the aftermarket-minded members of this forum are just pointing out something every major dealership already knows and makes a ton of money on.

 

Noted. That's why I bought an SR-5 over a TRD Sport. I didn't want 17" wheels (at the time) and all the painted bits didn't matter to me so I took the $3500 I saved and got a lift kit with tires and a cap.
