for all the TACOs with the roof lightbar. I have a question for you. I've heard you get a lot of noise when you have one mounted on the roof, is that true? Thinking about mounting one to my OEM roof rack, but now I'm second guessing if it creates that much noise

I mounted a 42.5" radius between my OEM rack, it will "whistle" every now and then. To fix this noise (if it even bothers you) you can put a few pieces of foam between the cooling fins on the back, its just the fins vibrate/flex some and it will whistle

This. Or if that don't work, door trim works as well. And if that still doesn't work, best thing to do is to mount it up, and if it whistles, take some masking tape or electrical tape and tape off as much as you can on the fins. Then go for a drive and see if it still whistles. If it doesn't, take off a strip where you'd think it'd most likely be. Go for a drive. Repeat until whistle returns. Then you've found the spot and apply fix.

Mine turned out to be a strip on the bottom of my bar and not the fins in the back. Door trim on mine and problem was gone.

glad to help, you need to put the edge strip on the 4-5 lower fins as the air is coming up off the windshield, like blowing across a coke bottle!

Most people run it down the A pillar on the windshield.

I just tapped a hole in the roof channel under my OEM roof rack. Don't be scurred

I am changing the wire out to a type with a thinner jacket, then very nicely siliconing it down the side of the windshield gasket, I don't want to drill anywhere on the roof......i AM scared!

The only thing that bothers about the silicone is how it looks up close. Never seen one in person so i wouldnt know, does it look clean?

anything you put on your roof is going to generate noise...I have a roofrack and light cage on mine...it makes noise,my terra grapplers make noise...it doesn't bother me and I rarely even listen to the radio..it's just "truck-noise".

It wouldnt bother me that bad if it was a small noise, but some of the stories ive been reading make it seem horrible.

^^^^^ oh, when I say un-drivable, I actually mean "UN-FRICKIN-DRIVEABLE". It was like someone sitting next to you screaming at the top of their lungs, actually gave me a headache just trying to turn around for home and I am not exaggerating! I was sure I was going to just take it off and sell it for whatever I could get for it....

use the same type "edge strip" and run it down the windshield to under the hood to your power/switch connection, that way you don't have to drill anything.

should be able to,i have strips down both sides but they're only holding a small wire each,so i'm not really sure how big of a wire they can hold.
