    Hello all,

I went to start my Tacoma today and it doesn't seem to want to start. Started fine yesterday. Weather isn't that bad, no rain or snow/ Have not had any issues lately except a strange humming noise when I accelerate. This started about 4 months or so ago. When you let off the gas, it went away.

Anyways, battery tested fine. I replaced the starter not too long ago, so I don't think it is that.

The engine doesn't seem to want to turn over, but it is cranking. If I put it in neutral it seems to almost want to try to turn over, but no go. No clicking, or any strange sounds, just keeps trying to turn over but nothing.

My old 98 had a fuel pump go out on it, so could possibly be another bad pump? Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

Okay, I waited awhile, put it in neutral, then I got it to started after opening the throttle?

Went back a few times after this and now it is starting without having to put it in neutral.

Could be a fuel pump, leaking injector, or many another things. Your really not giving enough info for anyone to help.

Is it cranking, or no crank? There is no 'pumping the gas'. You just opened and closed the throttle.

Diagnostics 101. Fuel, spark, air, vacuum, ECU power, ECU signal.

Thanks, yeah it was cranking but would not start. Seems to be starting now, which is strange.
