Anyone else get shorted the key to the tailgate? Its not the same as the door key. I called the dealer and they said they dont have tailgate keys for any of them

It is a completely separate key. Not the same as the key that goes inside the fob. Mine only came with one so I asked them to make me another so I would have a spare.

It looks like a regular toyota car key.

The key on your key fob manually opens your doors and glove box. The separate key is for your tailgate.

Models with push button start are the ones that have separate tailgate key.

It seems silly that they could work the lock into the glove box, but not the tailgate

Toyota does many silly and head scratching designs or leaving things out ( pwr seats anyone?) (no 6 ft box option on LTD in USA) . Many of us buy them anyway for their dependability and resale... at least that is why I do.

So anyone with a manual tranny gets no push button start and no key FOB and no need for separate tailgate key.

Never got a key. Went back to the dealer who tried to get the key code from the factory by using the VIN. No luck. Have an appointment at the dealer to meet with s "key specialist" to make the key.
Seems like all the keys should be in the little plastic key bag you get when you pick up the truck.

3" lift, goodyear wrangler duratracs 285/70r17, k&n filter, bakflip vp tonneau and tint.
Because of that I got the automatic.

Makes no sense to me. But I do believe it has a key fob.

Manual has just a key with the lock/un-lock not a keyless entry fob the autos have. I got whats I gots and leave truck in gear when parked EVERY TIME so no need for key-less start feature.
