I know very little about rims/wheels but I am interested in swapping out the oem rims on my 100% stock 2012 TRD Sport. I am looking at various black ones and have found one I like but the tire guy at the shop said it won't work due to the offset of -12. It would stick out too far and possibly rub he says. The other rim specs are the same and the manufactures website says it will fit. I want to put 265/70/17 on them.
    thoughts please......

Nobody will be able to answer your question without more information. Offset is a useless number without knowing the wheel width.

Thats 4.53" backspacing. The guy at the tire shop is an idiot. You'll be absolutely fine. Tons of people run 285's on that backspacing. Worst case is some plastic trimming and CMC.
Personal opinion, narrow 265's on a 9" wide rim isn't aesthetically appealing. Hawaiian style.

Thanks for the help. I never considered the look of the 9" rim actually.
