Good luck, I had heart surgery as a child to repair a congental defect as well. I had coarctation of the Aorta.

 

He had a shunt put in to keep one of his valves open when he was 3 days old. His next surgery will be open heart. They plan on that being sometime next year.

 

Mine was considered closed heart, the little girl in the other bed in the room had open heart. She was up and around a couple of days before me. I don't know if it was the difference in procedure or that she 5 and I was 7 years old. Good luck and let us know how it goes, we will all be pulling for him.
