Back to a few pages ago when someone asked how you heat your tents in the winter. I'm thinking of running one of these off my auxillary battery. Just something to take the chill off. I'd run it a few minutes before bed and in the morning before getting out of the sleeping bags, just enough to take the chill off. Unless there are better ideas. I need to keep my wife happy, which means I need to keep her warm.

Anyone experienced any damage from having their rtt mounted on a shell?

I have a leer 100xq shell with Thule rack system. Thinking about mounting a tent on it. I'm just debating between tepui and cvt. Willing to make a trip. Tepui is 3 hrs away and cvt is 11hrs. Hmm...

I was thinking of going this route: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001122SZQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1446733811&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40&
Much less power draw than the heater. Not sure if it's worth the extra money over the blanket posted above though.

Wheeler's/Alcan 5-pack leaf springs, OME 881's, de-badged, Jungle Fender Flares, Herculined bed, HomerTaco grille, Anzo headlights, clear corners,
remove bolts/brackets, open tailgate, wrap ratchet strap or rope around rear bar of rack, stand in bed at front of tent while grabbing other end of strap/rope, push tent off rack onto tailgate, slowly release rope and slide tent to floor. reverse order to install...minimal lifting required for the whole process.

This. The last time I took my Mckinley of by myself though I had to go the doctor the next day. APPARENTLY I can't lift something equal to my weight over my head and gently set it down. Well...I can...and I did....but it hurt.

I took my rugged rtt on and off by myself. It's really not hard if you are just smart about it and are in decent shape. I wouldn't expect most women to do it but most men in decent shape should be able to move a regular model rtt around with little to no trouble.

Mines 7.5 feet long and 240 pounds. Granted I'm not in the best of shape (mostly round shapes) but I think that'd be hard for most individuals. Two people is a piece of cake but I prefer to leave it on anyhow.

 I need that! Getting the tent on and off Runner is a PITA. At least with my truck it was lower and I could use the tailgate to pivot the tent while moving it on or off the rack.

Especially with a swingout bumper, looks like it was supposed to be that way.
