Okay thanks for the advice. I'll contact the shop again and ask about a new skin. This is a bunch of shit to have to go through just to fix a "fender" bender. I did get a police report, but not the insurance. My insurance is currently in the process of contacting his provider.

Personally I would go to a different shop. Tell them what happened, who is paying, what you want, and why you want it.

I'm going to ask the shop I normally go to about a skin. If they don't want to do it for a particular reason, then I'll check around. I'm kind of lost on what to do at this point considering his insurance hasn't even contacted me about the issue. I don't know if I should go get some estimates or wait till after I talk with them.

Or just say screw repairing it and take the $$$ and buy a door at a junk yard. Or just leave it as is and spend the money on hookers and blow.

Insurance companies are never in a hurry to pay for anything, it blows my mind how I'll have a car torn down for over a week waiting on them to come out and approve a supplement on the repair

It's stupid as hell! I understand they are trying to save money, but I'm not the one at fault. Make your client pay for the damages that occurred to my vehicle. I shouldn't have to deal with the issue. :angrygirl:

    Decisions... Decisions.

I'm gonna have to fix it because I care for it considering it's my first truck.

Even though this thread is two months old, I forgot to post pictures of the repair. Many of you suggested a door skin, but the body shop I went to said a door skin would end up having bondo as well. He said it wouldn't be much, but a door skin would require some filler considering they hardly ever line up uniformly. In the end, I went with bondo because he showed me that the majority of the dent could be pulled out. I decided I could deal with a little bondo if it meant an extra $200 in my pocket. Repair picture posted below!

Maybe it's the pic but it looks like some orange peel on that repair.

You are actually correct my friend. The paint "settled" and created a hazy look. Body shop ended up buffing it and it looks great now in person. I'll post a newer pic tomorrow!

That was the thing though. There wasn't any junkyards around here that would even have a Tacoma on the lot. Whenever I was trying to find the bed doors, every yard I called said they haven't had a Tacoma in several years.
