Where on 03 Tacoma Doublecab is the fuse for trailer lights?

    No trailer lights are working when hooked up to my 03 Tacoma Doublecab. Originally we discovered there was an issue with the 6 pin connector on the trailer because the trailer lights would not work with any vehicle. After replacing the 6 pin connection on the trailer, it now works on my dads truck but not on my Tacoma. It has been about a year since the last time trailer lights worked when hooked up to my truck.
    I truely believe this is a blown fuse but I am unable to locate it. I have spent the last two days reading forums and I continue to see people saying that there is a separate fuse system behind the drive side rear seat. I have searched everywhere behind both rear seats and I do not see this. I even looked under the carpet that is behind the rear seats. Does anyone know where I can locate the fuse that controls the trailer lights?

    used to have - 99 2.4L I4 5 lug & 04 prerunner v6
    it runs off the 10amp brake light fuse in the fuse box in the dash.

    if the truck works, or only works when the trailer is unplugged then its the trailer light wiring converter box (that box you see between the tail light wires connecting to your truck and the trailer plug)

    buy another trailer wiring converter

    Magnuson Kompressor, OME lift kit, JBA Headers, junky Sony radio.
    On the passenger side behind back seat, you will find a black box. The wiring to that black has inline fuses. Check those fuses.

    I have an '04 double cab. I can't find any black box behind my pass rear seat. I don't even have the rear seat in and I just went to check :notsure:

    In my 02 there was a box behind the drivers side rear seat. I remember one time when I picked up a trailer from a local uhaul and it shorted out some of my lights. Turned out to be a fuse in that box behind the driver's side rear seat.

    I don't have one on the drivers side either. Maybe those boxes are for a factory tow package that I don't have. I have a hitch and a trailer plug that's been partially ripped off but that's all I've seen. I just got this truck and I'm still getting to know it.

    You're right. Mine was factory installed. Totally forgot about that.

    Sorry, I meant behind drivers side back seat. On the back wall under the carpet. If you dont have it, you may have a Uhaul system or equivalent.

    cut the wires on the truck side of the box for the trailer lights, then tape up and tie the wires up securely.

    I bet the box is shorted or the wires touched something. either way, if you aren't using the trailer plug or if the wires are cut, its best to eliminate this thing. they sell the replacement setup that is a "no cut" wiring harness that plugs into your tail lights and adds the trailer plug to your truck so you may just want to put a new one on "just in case" you ever want to pull a trailer. you can save money getting this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOPKINS-MFG...898994?hash=item1ea63aeef2:g:OvoAAOSwYHxWLjrS

    Maybe a bad ground?? Check the connector at the back of the with a voltmeter grounding to the frame...
