Hey guys, need help with this one. When I an on washboard roads that are really rough I'm getting a clunking/knocking right under my driver side floorboard. I recently had an elk hunt & when I got home I found these that had come off with the mud on my truck.

Any ideas what it could be & if these came off of something in particular? I looked under my truck for 15 minutes & don't see anything obvious.

Maybe they are not even from your truck! Noise could be tie rod, ball joint, CV shaft loose lugs? A lot of things!

I'll add these to the list of common Taco clunks, the steering rack guide and the "Taco steering column slip joint slop". If your 99 has the original steering rack, the "rack guide" is likely toast, regardless if it's causing the noise or not.
Unlock your steering wheel, pull the driver side rack boot back and shake the exposed end of the rack shaft up and down, don't be timid. Repeat with the outboard side of the (also exposed) inner tie rod end.

Looks like some sort of extra-terrestrial coinage. I'd hold onto that if I were you.

I also get a wierd clunking noise, i can almost feel it under my left foot. It only happens on the interstate though, and usually only about an hour into my drive, it comes and goes and i cant find anything out of the ordinary underneath.

Check all your plastic inner fender clips. Interstate might create enough turbulence (because Tacoma's fly) to shake that stuff around. Or jack the truck up and then push the wheel up with another jack and watch all your strut components. When loaded down it will appear nothing is wrong. When in flight down the interstate and you hit a bump the truck gremlins come out!

I chased a clunk for thousands of miles on an old dodge once, turned out to be the rubber between the cab and the frame in the cab mount. After I finally found it and fixed it that truck was as quiet as a new one since I'd already fixed everything else :drunk:

Depending on the noise your hearing - I experienced something similar. Tracked it down to the rubber flaps inside the front wheel well. They get removed often when doing an oil change and the clips break off or aren't replaced. Check that first. Go to the hardware store buy a couple 50 cents trim clips and I'll bet it solves your clunk in the driver side footwell/floor board area.
