This is where you start googling and reading. Does an oil interest you? Start looking up UOAs(used oil analysis) on that oil. See what kind of wear levels there are, what kind of additive packages, longevity of the oil. But you also have to do a good amount of reading to learn how to read this data.

If you're not an oil nut, running mobil 1 or OEM will suffice. Mobil 1 is sort of the standard everyone compares to because it's good quality oil. For me specifically, Eneos Sustina appeals to me and I like the data sheets for it. It's going to cost me a pretty penny, but for me its worth it.

Truck ia getting Mobil 1 once the free oil changes are gone. I use it in my GTO, 120k hard miles on that thing and no issues. Plus... its super cheap at Wally World

I've always loved the oil comparing test and "analysis". Yes, there are crappy oil brands, but the market has changed severely. Specialized testing and research has really became popular among oil manufactures. Just because an "oil analysis" indicates that one oil is better than another is just absurd to me. If I'm comparing Mobile 1 to an auto parts store brand sure, but major manufactures don't really differ that much IMO. I believe the user's driving habits play a major role in the quality of the oil that comes out. If one is romping it all the time, I'm sure there is going to be some excessive wear over average driving conditions. Just my $0.02

Or, you know, just buy whatever name-brand synthetic that happens to be on sale. :D I've used Quaker State, Mobil 1, and Pennzoil PurePlus in my Taco, Subaru, and lawn mower.
