    Not enough...
My dog is half raw / half kibble. It's been working great, so I do not plan on switching (unless I find a local butcher that has variety of flavors/proteins. So far I have been unable to do that)

Kibble I feed is Orijen Six Fish and raw is premade Northwest Naturals. Used to feed Stella & Chewy's raw patties, but Northwest Naturals is higher quality and they are the main supplier for Primal, according to a few trustworthy breeders on the Vizsla mailing list. It also comes in these awesome bars that are all uniform and much easier to store in the freezer. It is also cheaper. I buy a bulk box of 25 1lb bars for $100. Usually get 2-3 different flavors and rotate through them. Stella & Chewy's is more expensive ($6-$8/1lb vs $4/1lb) and also comes in shapeless blobs that are much harder to store. On top of it, Stella&Chewys just had a recall on their food due to salmonella, so I'm glad i switched.

I know alot of people hate on raw and dismiss it as a gimmick, but I took my dog for his annual physical a month ago and the first words out of the vets mouth where "Wow. He looks incredible! Whatever you are doing, keep doing it". Also, where I come from we did not have a concept of "pet food" until mid-90's. All of our dogs and cats were on raw diets.

if it was an immediate switch and not a gradual one (mixing old with new increasing the new over a week or two) that is probably what did it. TOTW is a better brand to stay on anyhow. we had our husky on it for awhile but once we got my GSD it was costing us too much.

Nutro. Helps with the no-hair on the belly issue. Along with the occasional salmon chunk.

Do the same for our Standard Poodle (don't laugh he's cut cool ... not the rich-uppity-foofoo look). What all do you use for your raw food diet?

Interested in knowing the same, and how much the approximate cost difference is? Always looking at better options for them.

A rough estimate for us is about $1.75 per pound. We usually get chicken from costco, chicken heart and liver through a local grocery store, plus fruits and veggies. We also have deer heart, liver and scraps from hunting, as well as beef heart, liver and scraps from the family farm. It definitely costs more, but he loves the food and it's supposed to be better for them.

If you do decide to go that way, here is a great book. It pretty much lays it all out and has recipes etc. http://www.amazon.com/Beckers-Real-...UTF8&qid=1446785503&sr=8-1&keywords=dr+becker

    That's not bad at all.

My pup gets Zignature Kangaroo formula (so far it's the only food that is consistently solid coming out.) 27# bags are around $65 so just over $2/lb...but the bag lasts about 7 weeks so it's not bad.

Cheapest we have found is the bagged thighs and drumsticks from Walmart. They come in a bag. Thats the main diet. We have also done leftover meat from hunting trips that has gotten frostbitten or spoiled.

Not bad, I buy a Science Diet and Six fish every 2 weeks. One type for each pup.

[IMG] Feed my two 6 year old Jack Russells, Pure Balance from Walmart. I leave in a bowel along with water so when ever they want to, they eat it. Over time, 3 of my other neighbors have also swapped over to it! [IMG]

IAMS seems to be popular among our past labs, so we've stuck to it.

Eukanuba has kept our pointing Griffon healthy for 12 years now. He just does'nt seem to grow old. I know the company has been recently bought though. Hope they stick with their proven recipe.

Was in a Steak House the other night. Asked why don't they offer a bag of scrap steak bones for their customers? Even though at a cost, I'm sure my dog would appreciate it! [IMG] 11165296_443779012449625_7554719918065010509_n.jpg
