Once they start to go it's only a matter if time before they just give up the ghost. Best bet is into just swap in a manual transfer case and be done with it.

A local member here with 2nd gen 4x had never engaged 4lo & we had to fuck around with it for a couple hours before it finally engaged....If only mechanically engaged (lever) it'd been a non issue...

pulled the cover off the actuator on the case and it looked pretty good, nice and clean with factory grease , after wiggling the gear a bit and re installing the cover it came right outa low range

After getting it to cycle in and out a few times it works great now, must have just been froze up from lack of use

Look at the control switch....between 4 High and 4 Low you will see the word "PUSH." This is what you must do to the knob while turning it to the right from 4 High in order to go into 4 low..

it only beeps when you go for lo position and you are not in neutral

if your switch allows 4lo without pushing in, the safety catch is broken

the PUSH has no electrical function. the PUSH simply moves a plastic
tab (like a pill bottle safety cap) so you don't accidentally flick to 4lo
when you are not in N and you want 4hi. 4lo must be done in neutral
that is why the switch won't move to lo until pushed...it prevents goof ups.

I certainly did not mean to insult your intelligence. I'm sorry that my misadventure while engaging 4 L was of no help. Good luck.
