Interested in purchasing a plow to do a few small driveways. What are your thoughts and have any of you run a plow before on your yotas? Any recommendations on a plow?

From what I've seen in the past, you're going to probably get a negative reaction on putting a plow on your Tacoma. Search a bit and you'll find a few guys that have them and there are some positive comments. Last year I looked at getting a plow for my '13. I priced out a Fisher, not a homesteader but a real Fisher plow. In my area it was a bit over $4k which was a bit too much for me. A neighbor runs a SnoWay on a Jeep which he likes because it has power down meaning you can put pressure on the blade to scrape a bit better - especially when back blading. My opinion is that the Tacoma is more than capable of plowing a driveway or two. You have to keep up with the storm if it's going to dump a lot of snow and you really shouldn't ram the snow bank hard.

Yes I've done some researching and had seen those threads but there isn't much. I see a lot on first gen and even older toyota pick ups running them with no problem. I know the tacoma is more than capable and I wouldn't beat on it as I want this truck to last many years to come. Just looking for first hand experience with people running a plow on a 2nd gen tacoma and which models to look for and which ones to stay away from. Any advice on plows that may be suitable for a 2nd gen regular cab would be much appreciated.

I had a 6.8 homesteader on mine for the last 5 years. I doors than a few driveways & it's held up. Both truck & plow. Plow has been well used tho. It needed some serious welding last winter & I sold this year. Plan was to buy a new, bigger truck & plow but I have to wait a year or two. My new plow is a Snowdogg md68....I wanted the md75 but price was an issue. I might be able to use wings for a few lots.

I bought this about a month ago for the upcoming winter. DR Redi-Plow. I know its not a hydraulic plow, but this and the Snowsport brand are essentially the same and have hundreds of positive reviews. I guess i will find out this winter. I live in the country in northern IL. 600' asphalt driveway, uphill with a cornfield on each side. My atv with a 60" plow just wasn't enough last year. Here is a link to the youtube video of said plow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDhBxxD-bqk
