Has anyone researched the cost of replacing the two chrome rear bumpers with body colored?

No, but I bought some body color paint, I plan to attempt to scuff, prime and paint my chrome ones. If it doesn't hold up I will buy the "paintable" pieces.

I would have guessed that you can order them pre-painted just like the front grills. I'll ask @jefflang if he can get me part numbers.

I guess you do have to get them black and then paint them. Let me know how you make out painting the chrome ones.

    thanks.

Gloss Black?? or flat black? If they are gloss I may have to pop on a pair of them.

I'm going to assume flat black plastic, the same as on the SR with the utility package.

If I was in your position I would sell that bumper since it's new. Some people want chrome.

You can swap or sell and buy a new one.
Chrome is one hard material to cover with paint.

I would love to get a bumper that would function with the BSM and RCTD but looks like the chevy colorado or gmc canyon with the built in bed steps. anyone seen a solution yet?

I prefer the Chrome on the white trucks. Breaks up the monotony of the colors. Problem is, the parking and cross traffic sensors plug into the painted bumper. Don't see how that would be an easy swap over to the chrome.

One of the things I'll miss my Colorado for come Monday when I trade her in. Sure makes it easier getting my fat arse up in the bed to dry the top of my truck off after washing it.

Chrome like bumper is $172 a side. I would expect the unpainted bumper to be priced within this range (pre painted bumpers are not available as a replacement part)

The bumpers are not chrome plated but PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) on Plastic. It is a chrome-like powder-coat that offers the same shiny appearance as chrome, without the common downsides.
PVD is made with environmentally-friendly products.
PVD has all the benefits of powder-coating, combined with the good looks of chrome. It is a paint so repainting would require scuff, prime and paint. $.02
