Congrats on the new truck!! You certainly got the right color.

I tow trailers fairly often and put on a set of Firestone bags on which I would do again. The truck will work great for you.

I never understand people getting upset when they can feel a 5000lb trailer behind them. These trucks do a great job at the variety of tasks they are meant to handle.

Thanks! I already have the WDH, anti-sway and break controller I'll transfer from the 4Runner, so I'm good for that part.
Rack is mainly to carry kayaks.

Thanks, I'll be adding air springs then. I'm glad to know 5000lbs won't be a big deal. As long as I don't cause premature wear on the truck and I can break safely with my load, it's all good. We're talking a few trips each year, not so often.

For the color, I'm not usually "flashy" and I can say EVERYONE is looking at my truck today. I can't go unnoticed for sure! I just loved the red.

All set for towing! Brake controller and lights all working. Trailer leveled. I have to zigzag backing up into a narrow parking space between trees and it was a breeze. Easier than with the 4Runner somehow. And really, hooking the trailer with a back up camera feels like cheating!!! :D

Next will be towing mirrors and Air Springs, but that will be for next spring, before the towing season starts.
    There's my new rig.

Thanks so much for this post!! My s/o has a taco and I am needing a truck to haul short distances and I REALLY REALLY want a tacoma vs getting a full size and have 2 vehicles. I commute to work so I think a Tacoma would be the perfect veh for me!

A properly configured Taco will do just fine with a two horse trailer. My wife tows the horse trailer almost every weekend now, and the Taco works well. Important points are to make sure that you have an appropriate weight distribution hitch and brake controller. Enjoy!
