I agreed to do a product review for the 2016 Tacoma Center Console Organizer made by @salex. My review will focus on the issues that come to mine when I first saw this product available: installation, durability, functionality, price, noise concern. Please let me know if you have any specific questions that I didn't address.

To start, I'm not impressed with the center console that Toyota chose for this model. It could have been made a little bigger and have a multi-tier opening system that gives two levels of storage. Toyota could have definitely spent a couple more brain bites when designing this console... but here we are.

    Salex Organizer:

    Installation-
Installation was incredibly simple. The package did not come with instructions, but salex provided me with some in a private message. I believe they intent to have instructions in the product once they begin to sell them,if not... I would encourage it. The organizer is a total of three pieces that interlock to form the divider you see below. Installing requires you to build the organizer inside the center console. Placing the longer piece in first, then sliding in the two dividers. I think the seller made the right choice by engineering this to be built inside the console in order to ensure a proper, secure fit.
    10/10

    Durability-
I was surprised by the quality of plastic used for the organizer. The plastic is very thick and has zero give when trying to bend. Considering the application for this product, the durability will never be an issue. Very solid and well made.
    10/10

    Functionality-
Salex had to work with what they had, and as I stated earlier... the 2016 Tacoma's center console is small. The car charger must have been a challenge when building the organizer because they had to plan for the typically long car plugs that go into the port. With that said, my car charger fit... barely. But once you have it in there, there is no need for you to remove it. If you do see yourself having to constantly plug in and pull out your charger, this could cause problems. Especially if your organizer is full. For me, this is not a problem.

The organizer gave me six equally sized compartments to store my things. While these divided compartments are somewhat small, they easily met my needs for what I keep in the console.
    9/10

    Noise concerns-
I was worried that the organizer would constantly rattle while driving. If this was the case, I would probably opt out of having it. This thing did not make a single noise while driving down the hwy. I did a couple quick accelerations, brakes, and drove a steady 50mph and 60mph. All of these conditions did not cause noise. This was probably the most impressive aspect of the organizer. Well done salex!
    10/10

    Price Point-

I'm not sure what salex plans to price these at. If you go to his website, you will see other organizers priced approx $20-$25. With this one being made of less material, I expect it to be priced $20 or less. But I'm unsure of his overhead cost. I would be willing to pay $20 for this product. I would have to really consider paying much more for it.
    8/10

    Customer Service-
The little interaction I had with Todd from Salex was excellent. He was quick to answer my questions while also being very professional. He did exactly what he said he was going to do and got me the product exactly when he said he would do it. This speaks volumes to me because good customer service these days is hard to come by. This alone makes me want to be a return customer for salex.
    10/10

    Overall-

Overall, I am very happy that I have the organizer. Without it, you truly have to rummage through your console for anything you place in there. Now I have a space in my truck that allows me to easily access and find my belongings. Finally, from what I gather online... Salex organizers are made in the USA which makes me happy to support.
    9/10

If you use your center console for anything that requires organization, you would be foolish not to invest in an organizer from Salex. It is a one time purchase that will easily last the life of the truck!

Todd (@salex), Let me know if you'd like any more pictures or for me to review any other aspect of the organizer. Thanks again for the opportunity and if you have any other products you would like me to review, please contact me.

The dude doesn't read the post, has no idea what's going on, but somehow believes we really needed his well thought out advice of "Hope it was less than $5". Thanks bro.

It kills me when you read these threads and the latest question/comment was the same one that had been answered 20 times before it.

You'd be surprised at how many people think the price is too high. Too be honest unless you have all the tools on hand and materials, you aren't going to make one of these for $5, all inclusive (+ gas to get wherever to buy the crap and the time wasted to do so).

I figured $22 Amazon primed to me was the better option. Others opt for a $6 alternative.

I have the Salex center console organizer in my 2nd gen. Very happy with it.

Eh. Unless he changed the plastic from the 2nd gen models which I doubt, it's definitely not hard to bend, and the issues with his design are apparent in the installed pics. There isn't a right angle to be found, and none of the compartments are the same size as any other because of how he designed the pieces to just fit together in slots.

Felix, thanks for your detailed review. Well done!

The price of this version will be less than the Gen 2 version. It is less pieces and a smaller organizer. Look at the different organizers on my Amazon Web store and prices are $15-$25 depending on size.

All my organizers are made in Colorado by a small business. The cost of the plastic is only a portion of the cost to make it available online. Think about the cost last time you had to ship a package.

You can drop $20 on 4 beers if you are lucky and have nothing to show for it or spend $20 on something that you will use every day.

I think we're talking closer to $15 for 3 pieces of high quality plastic.

People tend to not realize the cost associated with marketing items online. It cost money. Additionally, the product is probably made in smaller batches due to the niche market. You don't get the benefit of mass production. Finally, it's made in the USA.

By all means, if you think it's too expensive... Then pass. But hopefully people will see the value in an item that they can use every day for the next 10+ years for a very small price. Would you pay $1.50 a year in order to not have to deal with the cluster fuck of junk in your console? I would.

Just got mine installed and I like it very much. It's simple, but fits well into the space and really helps to organize things for quick access. When it arrived, it had been in the mailbox so a little stiff (cold outside) with a slight curve. Just needed to warm them up in the sun to let them straighten out a bit and fit right into the space perfectly. I like things that are simple, easy to install and easy to remove if necessary. This fits the bill and very much appreciate someone taking the time to put this out. I've also got a 3M Command Mini Hook (top right corner)to keep my tailgate and hitch pin keys - no sense hauling those around in my pocket.

lastly, always good to support a local business!

I'll definitely be down for one of these IF the charger fits over the divider and through the pass-through when the lid is closed? I like to leave the micro-USB end of my charging sticking out the slot, and pulling enough slack to use it when I want to charge. It looks from this picture like you have a similar charger design (with the coiled section as well) - can you please comment? Thanks.

Finally got back home and had a chance to install mine. I have pictures of the before and after at the bottom of the post. I haven't had the truck long, so haven't accumulated a ton of stuff, but this will definitely help keep my console from being a crazy disaster like my last car.

The material is very sturdy and install is ridiculously easy. I have no reason to believe it won't last for the lifetime of the truck. The compartments are the perfect size for my use.

Is this a groundbreaking, must have product? Of course not. Is it a very inexpensive solution that solves an issue with messy consoles? Absolutely.

For the roughly $20 that he will charge, I would recommend it for sure if you are someone who wants to keep a neat, organized truck.

I threw in a clear 3M hook in my console. Super simple, super convenient!
