    Take it by a parts house to get any codes read.

    She has an intermittent OBD 1 Code 52, knock sensor. When the CEL light illuminates she drives worse. Sometimes does not show for weeks though.

    Check the ground coming from the firewall on the passenger side.it goes from the firewall to the motor.mine did this exact same thing.

    I checked this over the weekend and it looked good. I may well attach an extra ground cable to the engine block to rule this potential problem out.
