Well I switched my order to the Dick Cepek Extreme Country... No time table for shipping as of yet even though their website states that they ship within 5 to 7 days. I'm getting pretty sick of 4wheel parts.

The reason I got my 5 Cooper St tires for only $800CDN was because the tire shop ordered the wrong tires, was supposed to be getting the ST Maxx for around $1400 area. I had purchased tires there before and got a great deal so I went back. The shop is a few hrs from where I was living but figured to make a wknd out of the trip so all good. Dropped my rig there and when I got back to see them an hr later I find the wrong tires installed. It would be a week or two for the correct tires to be ordered in, told them I wasn't coming back and that I expected a serious discount as it was a long round trip that was not worth making a 2nd time. The guys at the tire shop got the mgr I had ordered through originally on the phone and he realized it was their error right away and deeply discounted the tires to nearly cost (apparently), at that price I couln't say no!

Even better deal when you consider $800 CDN is about $600 USD right now

Curious how @WheelInTheSky supposedly got those tires for less than 1/2 that price

I'm done giving advice on buying these tires, I've realized that my case is the exception and not the rule. If I'm the only one to have them at 164 a tire then I'll just shut up and count myself lucky.

    164 x 4 = 656 which even without a currency converion isn't " less than 1/2 " of 800

    Just sayin

    Thats where the confusion started

At first I wasn't sure why you were saying less than half of 800... I'm thinking "That's fucked, who said anything about that?!?" Then I went a couple pages back out of curiosity and realized that I'd mistakenly quoted the post just above the one I'd intended to:

$1250 is what I took exception to, as I'd paid half that. By the sound of this thread, if anyone in Canada escaped with 5 tires for $800 USD they lucked out to be sure.

I got the cooper st maxx 255/85/16 on stock wheels. The tires seem really close to the uca's. I can barely fit my finger in between them. Is that normal?

Someone please entertain my curiosities. Does anyone with a V6 4WD keep notes on their fuel economy? I'd love to hear your experience with this size, especially with the ST maxx. Please note where you drive most of the time (city, HWY, mixed) and your driving style (grandma, normal, Dale Earnhardt). I'm fairly certain this will be my next tire. I know my mileage will take a hit coming from load C 265/75/16, but that's not a deal breaker. I'd just like to know how much.

So I have had this tire for about a year now. I have full skids, bumpers, and just heavy in general. When I first came from my 265/75/16 load e my mileage went down about a half mpg. The difference wasnt noticeable at all. I was getting about 18mpg driving a mix of highway and city. The city driving was mainly country roads so that helped. I didn't have the winch at the time or the tool box. Now I think I am seeing about 16-17.8 mpg on average. Last couple weeks I have been seeing 13mpg do to short trips around town and it's getting colder. My driving isn't aggressive. I try to make sure the engine does rev above 2000rpms.
I use fuelly to calculate all my Mpgs. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the detailed response. That is good to hear, especially since it sounds like we have similar driving styles.

Not a problem. The tires have been really great for me and they haven't affected the mileage too bad. On the trail the extra height made a world of a difference. The coopers have been great in snow, mud and all road conditions thus far.

    My 255/85R16 Cooper S/T report:

I put my 255/85R16 Cooper S/T tires on the truck and did the Rug Road trip this past Friday-Sunday. I lowered the tire pressure to 18-20 PSI and these tires did GREAT! Climbing rocks, steep step decents, and they performed very well. Probably due to the tall sidewall they soak up more impact than a 75 series tire making for a good ride in the rough stuff and lots of traction as they wrap around the terrain. I have 4.56 gears (and lockers) in both axles and the added height over my 265/75 tires also makes the highway cruise a bit lower RPM (which is good!), they are pretty quiet, so I'm elated all the way around.

These S/T are not an aggressive tread pattern but they work great in this rocky terrain, and even on my wide 8" wheels only rubbed when the truck was REALLY flexed out.
