What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I agree on the skids, + peace of mind since they protect the most expensive parts of our trucks.

I never had a locker till this summer. Yes it's nice but you may as well save for a selectable one. Much more useful and nicer to have for a de type rig or any rig that sees a lot of asphalt.

Then get real suspension.

Then an e locker swap or arb and gears.

 

Guess skids it is.

I do plan to upgrade my suspension in the future.

He could, but I heard you had to do some trimming and converting back to a two piece sounds like a challenge.

 

You do get a projector. Which is required for you to run HIDs, plus it has a better beam pattern, I need something brighter which is why someone is building my set.

 

No need to convert it back to a 2 piece. Logan on here has done it and it looked sick

My next big ticket is dirty 5's+5.29's. Already got the sheet metal for the tub.

 

What does 'selectable' mean?

 

Does anybody have any experience with the Timbren bump stops and flip kit?
I'm wondering how much I should allow for compression of the rubber stop or if I should just assume it can be completely compressed. I'm doing final measurements for shock length.

Edit: nevermind. i heard back from Timbren:

The rubber spring in this assembly will travel ~ 2 ¼ inches before becoming solid. Also, there would be a gap of ~ 1 inch before this comes into contact.

He means a locker that can be turned on and off vs. and autolocker. An Aussielocker or Detroit style lockers are lockers that are always engaged vs. an ARB or E locker that can be turned on and off.

I recently put in a new motor in my Tacoma, a 2.7L 4 cylinder engine. Runs great. A few months ago I also put in a k and n intake system, and replaced the coils and spark plugs.

 

Most people will say to get rid of the K&N and get an afe. The oiled filters clog up the maf.

 

The oil does get on the MAF but only after its just been oiled. If you get electrical cleaner (spray can) you can spray the senior and it will be fine. Done it serval times. But it is a filter that will allow quite a bit of dust through.

I agree! You will end up replacing them with retrofits down the line

 

screw all those fancy filters, ill take my paper filter any day.
