I have a 2011 4.0 Prerunner. I found a Toyota dealer that has a old-style TRD intake that I'd like to buy. However, they said the old one will not fit. I'd have to have the new style. Can anyone confirm this is true? Also, if I decide to get the new style TRD intake, have they corrected issues with the MAF/lean condition? Thanks a lot. I just had a magnaflow 14" installed and I'm wanting to compliment that with an intake.

Yea I remember the new style had the lean issues. He told me that the old style will fit up to 2009. I asked him what changed after 2009 (he swears it will not fit 2010-2011). He never specifically said what won't fit about it. I was hoping someone here had installed one on the 2011 4.0 and could confirm.

Ok cool. I have nothing against the new style, I was just curious if the lean issues have been corrected. The stage 2 afe magnum force is the same as the old style of new style? I can't tell from pictures. I just want to be sure I get the right one. I had a k&n style on my previous truck (F150 5.4) and it was louder, but I can't say there was any kind of mpg/hp gain. I called k&n and asked them what made their intake superior to an enclosed filter type. The guy was very nice and said the open type filter flows much more volume of air (which I don't deny). However, I asked him how their heat shield kept all of the engine heat out of the filter area. He said that it doesn't totally isolate engine heat, but the advantage is much more airflow vs. one that pulls from the fender well area. He was very honest with me about all of my questions. The price on the k&n is good- $266. However, I want to make sure I'm getting the most power. I don't care about noise so much. I'm also considering the AEM short ram intake. Anyone with info on this?
