So, I will be trading the old truck, question is, should I keep my toolbox, or get a bed cover? Please help me make the decision.

Depends on what you plan on putting in the bed

Don´t really haul much in the bed, usually load atv on a trailer. I am considering a smaller box for my tools and get the bed cover. I think they should be secure with the locking tailgate, however, the convenience of just unlocking the box, getting what I need, makes life a little easier and that has me torn between what I should do. Opinions please.

With a pop and lock tailgate handle, you could have a secure full bed with a cover, but it sounds like you don't mind giving up some space for the convenience of the tool box. If I were you, I'd probably go with the tool box.
