I've got 17s on mine. 3 inch lift in the front and 1 inch in the back. 265/70/17 tires (31.7 by 10.5)

Nope I can turn all the way and back up and hit bumps and not rub. My buddy has the same setup but 11.5s and he rubs so I think the skinnier tires help

Could you go with a bigger tire say a 285 and not have any rubbing issues with just normal driving?

285 would be wider not taller. The first number is the width. But I think the 31.7 is as tall as you can go without rubbing in the front with the coil spacer.

I think most people do a 6 for 33s. I'm not positive though. One thing to consider though is that anything after a 3" lift in the front gets spendy really quick. You Cv axles don't like that severe of a angle so it's highly recommended that you do a front dif drop. And at that point I think your stepping up to new coils and shocks as well because you can't get a spacer in your stock spring that big. Or go body lift 3" and suspension 3". Depends on if you are going offroad in it or just want a city boy truck haha

I think if you go on toytec.com they give you the recommended tire size for each lift they sell. If you really want to do it right go with a 3-4 inch long travel kit and call it tits $$$

Well I definitely don't want a body lift I just think it looks stupid personally...but this is my wife's truck and the most off road it will see is our 1/4 mile long gravel driveway lol

I'm ok with minor rubbing at full lock it's running 31x10.50 15s now on MT wheels and rubs just a bit at full lock

    Looking to go maybe 285/70 that's a 32.7" tire

Your running the 31s stock now? If so you should be able to tuck the 32.7 with the 3 inch spacer in the front. They make a extra 1/4" spacer for them you can buy as well which will give it a extra 1/2-3/4 inch lift if you do end up having problems rubbing to much

I have a 3inch lift running 285's and I don't have a diff drop. My CV boots are showing wear where the fins touch because of the increased angle, but they're also regularly soaked in mud and that'll promote wear. I have roughly 50k (KM) on them like that.

When you start modifying anything prepare for other things to break. Wheel bearings and ball joints are officially wearable items.

    3" toytec lift

285/70/17's with a 3" toytec lift (front coilovers and add-a-leaf in the back). It rubs at full lock if I go over a bump while turning but that's it.

I recently switched over to 265/70/17's because I hated how the truck ran on the 285's. I had a set of Firestone M/T's which weighed 65lbs a piece, so the significant weight along with the big tire diameter made the truck struggle while going up big hills. My 265's don't look at good on the truck but the performance is MUCH better. My 265's weigh 49 lbs each.
