I used to use factory air filters but I just dropped in a K&N filter. I now notice it vibrates when the rpm's are just right. Is this common? I see a lot of threads with cai issues but not drop in filters.

Also, I noticed a filter on the opposite side where you put the drop in filter, it's on the fixed part that you clamp on the air tube and drop in filter. Do people change those or take them out? It seems restrictive to air flow.

I'll just go ahead and say it before everyone else does.

A K&N makes your truck faster by lightening your wallet, making sucking sounds and adding stickers.

Just don't. And boom. The problems you mention go away...........

I put a AFE CAI in mine. Truck looks mean and I want it to sound mean too. Anyway..Setting aside a persons reason for putting on an intake..OP...I also have a buzzing sound at around 4K rpm. I think it might be from the side visor on the passenger door or some loose trim somewhere. The increased vibration from the intake is the culprit. Haven't got around to actually checking what's loose. Don't really bother me that much but it's there. Not sure if that's the type of vibration ur referring to but for me it's loose trim.

After a few years using the K&N filter, I decided to just got back to the oem one.

I just got a better feeling about the oem one after reading how the oil from the K&N one can get into the MAF.
