I just picked up a used set of chrome OEM Tube steps. I want paint them black. Has anyone taken off the plastic step pads? It would make painting so much easier.

Not my pic, but pic for reference. photo3.jpg

Damn. Seriously? They were only $50. Line-X won't work?

Its hard to get anything to stick to chrome or stainless. Best bet would be to sandblast them for a rough finish but thats a lot of work fot a $50 running board.

Well I've read people using line x or rustoelum to paint. Worth a shot. So anyone know how difficult it is to take off the plastic pads? Lol

Mine are Aries, but look the same as those. The plastic pads just pull straight off. Each end has a nipple that fits into holes in the tubes. The end pieces also pull off.
