The Carfax thing pisses me off. My old taco was hit before I ever made payment on it. This stupid bitch that hit me was driving like a savage and tried to pass me in a turn lane, came back over and damn near ripped the front end off. Luckily an off duty state trooper was next to me and saw the whole thing. Well, that $4,XXX collision cost me about $7,XXX when it was all said and done because of the diminished value of the vehicle. Insurance has and always will be a scam.

If those jerky's are going to report my vehicle because someone else is an idiot, there needs to be some kind of compensation from one of those parties to cover my diminished value

Negotiate this before settling. Have comp data in hand to show estimated diminished value. Was able to negotiate an extra 1500$ added to my payout(P&S, medical, repair) to cover diminished value from a nasty 0 fault rear end when a kid hit me doing 30mph while texting, when I was stopped at a stoplight.

Well, it actually doesn't stick out any longer than a regular hitch ball. I also was concerned about this but got one on a whim.

Just ordered the one without the hitch. Might look bad (no worse than those Bull Bars) but I will either back into something or someone will tap me. I need a bed step anyway and this will make getting in the bed without opening the tailgate easy,

    THANKS..

When you buy any insurance you are always betting against the odds, it's how they make their money. You need it though because a bad accident could wipe you out. Really sucks.

SpareBumper has a new product, that might be more aesthetic:

I know. I shouldn't be penalized because someone else is more likely to hit me than me hitting them. Isn't that how the odds work?

Well I believe that they figure that them having to cover an accident is about 50 50 adjusted for the driving record which is why insurance goes up if you have moving violations or previous accidents. They charge you more than they figure they will pay out on you and that is how they make their money.

Think about it this way. Add up all of your insurance premiums you have ever paid and how much they have paid out to cover your claims. If you are like most people you have paid more in premiums than your insurance has covering your claims.

Gotta have it though because if someone is injured you can get into 100k+ territory quick. That is why even if I had the money I would probably never be self insured. If you are the unlucky minority to owe big you get screwed.
