Hi, I have a 15 double cab prerunner TRD O/R with a 3in lift and ko2 AT tires.

I'm getting a bit tired of desert play, looking for something with great scenery around Tucson, AZ. Even a great trail that leads to a camp spot would be nice too.

Anyone in Tucson know of any great spot?

I know the back way of MT Lemmon is nice, I was there a couple weeks back for deer hunting
And Redington pass, but I'm not sure what trails are pre-runner friendly.

Here is a couple pics of my truck.

Head down sonoita highway to the south, anywhere from I-10 to the border patrol station to the right is pretty nice. Takes you up in the old Santa Rita's beautiful area

Update: just went down to sonoita for a hunt this weekend. Had a little extra time so I hit some trails from here down to Patagonia. Flux canyon and fish canyon are pretty bad ass. I'd like to start a little meet for those in Tucson and take a day trip down here. image.jpg

So I remember I subd to this thread a while back. I've been doing some exploring of my own around Tucson lately and have put my little pre runner to the test. There's some very nice trails down old Spanish trail toward colossal cave area. Also down near sahaurita in that mountain range. Not crazy hard but do require a bit of skill with image.jpg image.jpg The trail down in the Santa Rita's

How do you get to the trail from old Spanish trail and houghton? And how far do it go?

You take old Spanish all the way southeast towards colossal cave, a few miles past avenida de loma comes pistol hill on your left, after turning onto pistol which is dirt make your first right down a dirt road and a quarter mile down you'll find a state trust land sign. I've never seen a sherif out that way but getting a permit is smart just to be safe. The dirt road goes on for about 2-3 miles and right after you experience the first tough hill climb is where you've gone to far. If you follow that road it comes to a blockade with another spur trail but it was to rough. The right trail to take is at the bottom of the hill and you'll make a left going north, the nest section got tough but there's a pretty good idea of how to get to this spot. It's extremely beautiful and if you can make it all the way down to the wash it's even better

Left in '97 when I joined the CG. Last time I was back was back in 2010. Grew up on the northwest side of town out by CDO.

Another Tucsonan here looking at getting into some trail running. Went over Reddington Pass last weekend and turned it into a 120 mile loop through Oracle and back through town.

I'm hoping to start getting going, but all I've got is a just above stock prerunner, and the wife and I aren't keen on getting stuck when alone, or busting up my daily driver. Any thoughts on places to brush up my chops and have a little fun?

Nice to see another local on here! Reddington pass for starters is usually the best. You can head down houghton towards sahaurita and into the Santa Rita mountains and check out the old copper mines and maybe see the local jaguar in the area. It's always best to have someone with you. Like you, I'm running a pre runner but the rear locker has saved my ass many times. If you're into sliding or drifting and what not check out poor mans east of houghton and Valencia or try wentworth exit off i10
