yeah, OP take into consideration.... your insurance WILL go up.... you dont want a record on your ins... spend the money on painless dent removal, and call it good.

^ this is what i was hoping. I don't expect the insurance money to cover everything obviously. I wouldn't mind covering half of the cost of a new bumper plate

Touch up paint. Not worth it to go through insurance.

Same thing happened to me but I got it on video AND the kind lady did leave her contact info. Really made me upset at first!

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/truck-hit-in-parking-lot.395878/

Not only was my bumper dinged up but the PS front fender also needs repair. The TOTAL bill for all this is only $1600.00

Not sure what you will get for your much smaller scratch.

Hope you get it fixed to your liking. The reason I am going to get it repaired back to factory condition is because I want things lined up and painted correctly. If it had not bent the front fender I would have taken the money and gotten a better front bumper.

No advice on what you "should" do, but if a body shop fixes that - they're going to remove/repaint/reinstall and that's gonna be right in the neighborhood of a thousand bucks, give or take.

Alternatively, you could DIY it with some paint, about a teaspoon of bondo, some sandpaper, and some touch up primer and touch up paint on a Saturday afternoon. Actually, allowing for drying time between coats, probably an entire day.

That won't be "factory quality" or un-noticable, but depending on your artistic skills, probably a hell of a lot better than it is now.

I believe that would fall under comprehensive since the vehicle was not being driven at the time. OP, I would personally not bring it to insurance but I plan on keeping mine well into the beater phase. If you are going to sell it while it is still nice you might want to consider it. I would definitely be getting a quote on the repair before I talked to my insurance though so you know the difference after the deductible and whatnot.
