image.jpg image.jpg So I work at a Subaru dealership, and am trying to get my girlfriend to trade in her civic for this 05 forester. Maaaainly because we spend a lot of time on rough dirt roads and Im tired of either needing to take my truck everytime or having her yell at me everytime we hit a pothole in hers. So if she gets this lil beast, Im wondering what modifications can be done to make it more off road ready. It has an inch less clearance than the new gen foresters and almost two inches less than my truck, Id like to increase that a bit just for a larger tire. There seems to be spacers available but that's it. I had a spacer lift on my Jeep Compass, and my Grand Vitara, and Id never do it on my truck. Should I trust spacers on a Subaru for light but fast off roading? Anybody know of a suspension lift or just more off road capable struts? Thanks in advance.

Primitive Racing offers King springs and shocks for the Fozzies. More expensive than just the spacers, but like most suspension kits, there tend to be fewer issues with alignment and function with a well sorted kit.

Hmm I do remember coming across that in a search a long time ago. I'll look into it, thanks!

I recognize the mountain in the 2nd pic. Grew up in its shadow.

It's a nice mountain! Though the ones to the south east are my favorites. We nabbed the car, took it to California, more miuntains.

You may need adjustable trailing arms for the rear after installing the lift.

My wife's 2015 Forester has 8.7" ground clearance, my '11 tacoma has 9.8" with the bigger tires. If you're sticking to gravel roads I wouldn't worry about lifting the subaru.

Thanks guys, great info. If I was her, I wouldnt lift it, but thats because when she's not around I play rally car and slide all over the dirt roads. The '05 only has 7.5 " of ground clearance, she has a gig coming up in March where she will be surveying desert tortoises in the Mojave and is planning on switching cars with me for clearance issues. The extra inch or so will help out there.
