I changed to a 31M size. First bought a Northstar AGM...post were too far in to accommodate existing cable slack. Changed to a Sears Diehard - it's been rock solid and the post placement work with the existing cable length.

Was looking for a new battery and am lookin at 31m diehard, but want a better warranty. 65 has a 3 year warranty but looking for something with a 4 year and then prorated. A strong battery as the oem is a pos. will never do optima. Over priced and crap. Been going back and forth and looking at gel or dry cell. What's people's thoughts ???

Please see Section 7 in the Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ on www.batteryfaq.org or more information on buying replacement batteries. If I added a large aftermarket electrical load, I would look at upgrading my alternator first depending on my driving habits.

What is the best warranty, price and reliability of common house brand batteries?

I have Autozone, Oreilys, Walmart, Pepboys, Carquest, Sears and Napa within minutes of me and I want to know who sells the best battery for the best price that includes a good warranty? I want an AGM type battery and only one in this list seems to offer a good value over other house AGM type batteries; the Oreilys Super Start Platinum. There seems to be a few different sizes, but I suspect that they all should fit right? 24F, 27F, 34, 34R, and 35. Are there any differences besides physical size? Will they all fit in factory trays with factory tie downs? Searching Carquest was a bit harder since they didn't show what batteries fit your vehicle so I found the closest they had in size and CCA. I broke it down into name, price, size, warranty, cold cranking amps (CCA), battery type. NAPA's warranty seems too good to be true. 75 months? Can anyone confirm that this is true?

    Autozone
    Duralast Gold - $127.99. 27F. 5 year warranty.
    710 CCA
    Duralast Platinum - $191.99. 24F. 3 year warranty. 710 CCA. AGM

    Oreilys
    Super Start Extreme - $121.99. 24F. 3 year warranty. 725 CCA
    Super Start Platinum - $159.99. 34R. 3 year warranty. 775 CCA. AGM

    Walmart
EverStart Maxx - $104.97 (out of stock). 24F. 3 year warranty. 750 CCA

    Pepboys
    Bosch Premium - $129.99. 27F. 3 year warranty. 750 CCA

    Carquest
    Advanced Generation - $138.99. 34/78. 3 year warranty. 850 CCA
    Advanced Generation - $138.99. 24. 3 year warranty. 725 CCA
    Platinum - $199.99. 34/78. 1 year warranty. 775 CCA. AGM

    Sears
    Diehard Gold -
    $111.24. 27F. 3 year warranty. 825 CCA
    Diehard Gold -
    $124.59. 24F. 3 year warranty. 725 CCA

    Napa
    NAPA Legend 75 Month - $127.79 .27F. 6.25 year warranty.
    710 CCA
    NAPA Legend Premium - $220.49. 24F. 6.25 year warranty. 710 CCA. AGM

Amazon says this Odyssey battery fits my truck: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CX4KTJS...TF8&colid=3O8BD1IHK5F5V&coliid=I1YRFGALD8OS36
Its not bad at $260 but its still $100 more than the Oreilys AGM battery I am looking at.

Cheapest I found for Odyssey 35 battery was $255 here: http://bumpersuperstore.com/i-11521637-odyssey-35-pc1400t-a-automotive-and-ltv-battery.html

That's crazy, I've had Diehard since mid year 2010 and still going strong. My crawler on the other hand, just replaced a second Yellow Top under warranty about a month ago both had bad cells and not holding a charge and having super low CCA's..

Diehard doesn't make the platinum no more. Or hasn't been produced in a while. You can find them online til you go to buy and nothing is available.

The diehard platinum was around the same price as the oddessey but the dry cell over liquid is so nice. The warranty is great from an oddessey dealer and your set. CCAs are good to.

The optimas are a joke now. It varies so much, and the price isn't worth it IMO

Costco sells Interstate batteries which have always been good to me. Also, you get the Costco return guarantee.

I had a generic Autozone battery in my Mustang for 11 years and gave it to a neighbor to use in one of his cars. I replaced it with an Odyssey Battery 6 years ago and it is a beast, like it very much.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I thought Diehards used to be one of the top batteries to buy. Guess like all things, quality goes to shit eventually. My truck came with a Diehard and it's been a year now and haven't had any problems, unsure how old it is. I work in a repair shop so I get discounts on Interstates since we are an authorized dealer, when my Diehard kicks the cells it will be replaced by a green top Megatron plus or blacktop Megatron II.

My OEM battery lasted 7 years, normal use. After that I buy TrueStart because I can usually get one quick off the dealer shelf. They're fresh, good warranty, good CCA. I keep track of it with a BatteryMole moniter, and I have a jumpstart battery. Antigravity XP-10 is a great one and you can use it for other stuff.
