    Hi all,

Got a few Q's about electrical specs for a 2016 taco with factory towing package. Could not find answers in the owners manual.

    1. On the 7 pin connector the aux/charging 12 volt line is rated to what amperage?

    2. Is the power from this pin ready to charge with just fuse and connect to trailer batterydirectly?

    3. Is the alternator on the tow package larger than on the non tow package and what amperage is it rated for?

    Thanks in advance

40 amp fuse under hood junction box, BATT CHG, controlled by ign relay so it only has power with key on.
Tow package comes with larger amperage alternator.

Thanks for the reply, yes I tried that fuse but the wire guage going to the plug looks like 14 or 12 guage at best so that is why I am curious to find the official rating. I know when you pull that fuse it kills the power to that pin, but 40 amp service probably needs at least 8 guage for safety!

    1. There are dedicated 30A fuse/wire for the towing tail lights and 40A batt/charge fuse/wire. These are not shared with any other systems in the truck, so I would think they could handle that current load, but I don't have specs on what the wiring can handle.
    2. What?
    3. Yes, it is larger, without tow package is 100A, with tow package is 130A.

They wouldn't use a wire rated less than the circuit could handle. The fuse is there to protect the wire.
