Just got my truck about two months ago. When I'm in four Lo I can only get my locker to engage about 10% of the time. I make sure the clutch is all the way down but the light just keeps blinking! Dropped in at the dealership today and the service rep called the shop who said it sounded like there may be a problem. Going to set up an appointment to have one of their two master techs take a look in the coming weeks, but in the mean time, any ideas?

I've tried this and it only seems to help sometimes. Today I managed to get in to engage doing this but then I could not get it to unlock. Took it out of 4lo, then out of 4 high and it was still engaged. Took about five minutes of rolling it back and forth and playing with the button to get it to unlock. Could it be a weak actuator?

I've yet to get mine to lock, the light on the dash just flashes. I'm interested in what other have to say.

So I just went out and played with it a little bit more(that's what she said) and it looks like if I went forward or back with the wheels slightly turned, I was able to get it to lock consistently. I guess the rear wheels are turning at a slightly different rate which evertually lines up the splines per @Rock Lobster instructions. Try it @Mavrick and report back.

I have been able to get mine to lock. I did have trouble disengaging it one time, but that was my fault for switching out of 4 Lo to Hi without pressing the button to unlock. I was able to switch back to 4 Lo and get it to disengage.

I went to dealer today with the same issue. They recommended the Rock Lobster approach and it seemed to work reasonably well.

    Noob question..

If it's a locker which is on the REAR then what is turning the front wheel supposed to do? xD

Maybe it has to do with the fact that when you turn, the rear wheels spin at different speeds.

Aren't you supposed to be stopped when you engage the locker? If so, then no wheels are turning.

I've only had one for a few months and have never used it. Owner's manual says to have the car in 4lo, in neutral and with foot on break when engaging the locker.

Are you saying that when you're stuck and you want to engage it, you press the button while the car is in gear? Is your foot on the brake when you press the button?

I was having problems with mine as well. I first started exercising it in September after not driving the truck for 3 months that I purchased in February. The first 10+ times it would not engage without moving or turning. Now it is much easier to engage. 80% of time I shift while stopped into 4h to 4l then lock it and it works, the other 20% it engages with slight movement.

I also exercise the 4wd in all gears about once a week on gravel roads as well as dac in the coast range. The more you use the system and its features the more dependable it will become.
