Hey All; having some pretty major mechanical issues out in Moab at the moment. Please PM for details, but I'm on a trail close to town - but somewhat technical....

I've diagnosed it as a bad clutch slave/master - or a failed syncro. As it stands, the clutch will not disengage - the truck will start in gear, with no clutch action whatsoever.

I'm with another truck, I winched myself to a safe location...plenty of food...plenty of water... I have my RTT...

    Truck is a 2007 2.7L, 5 speed manual.

If it comes to it, I'm not averse to replacing the transmission with a junkyard/alternatively sourced unit.

Or; if it's a clutch Master/Slave... That's easier to replace.

Watching the clutch fork on the exterior side of the bell housing, it does move. Clutch feels rather clunky.

I have HAM radio as well, and it's a short jaunt to where I have cell. So I'll periodically check here as the night progresses.

    Thanks!

    Jake

    Reserected from the dead.
Can you shift the gears with the truck off? If yes, just start it in gear and shift without using the clutch. As long as you get the gears and rpms to match, shifting clutchless is pretty easy.

I can't offer any other help, but am up all night watching for updates.

    G'luck

If the clutch fork is moving it may not be a slave cylinder. The clutch pressure plate or throw out bearing could be damaged and not releasing properly. Not thinking syncronizer at all.

That's my thought now as well...

Based on the fact that I'm seeing movement on the slave cylinder.

Weirdest part is that I wasn't romping on it at all; and the damage occurred in a rather "easy" section.

We are attempting a tow/winch out in the morning... Will update here with hopefully positive results.

Fortunate I'm with another rig! Yeah, definitely a very odd twist of fate/coincidence thing.

Affirmation to having food and water for several days in the rig when I'm out here.

Glad to hear it man! I caught your post in the NW thread - sounds like you had a crazy trip and learned some new off-road techniques (FWD crawling :D)

Hope you can get the clutch figured out and have it back in action soon!
