I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma I bought brand new....Last summer August 2014 I received a recall to have my frame checked for frame rot.....They said it looked ok and all it needed was undercoating....Well I had it done and it was a sloopy mess that was done and took a couple of months to dry....On 11/7/2015 I took it in for a recall on having my leaf springs checked...Well that passed ok, but was told that my frame was rotten and they were able to pop holes in the frame with a hammer....The problem you have they said, is once you have it undercoated Toyota will not back up the frame if it fails with rot....I called Ca. had a case # and talk to an agent after a couple of days they got back to me and said since you had the frame done, that there was nothing else they could do...I was never told that this would stop Toyota from backing up the frame if I had the undercoating done....So now I'm screwed with a bad frame.....I'm done with Tacomas and if your thinking of getting yours done, don't have it done........This is how there getting out of it....Next thing I have left is to call the Massachusetts Attorney General....

I also had my frame sprayed by Toyota about a year ago. While changing my oil last week I noticed rust coming thought in several places, no holes yet but definitely didn't stop the rust. With 166k miles on it I'm hoping to get a couple of more years out of it. Only time will tell.

wow, I just bought my 05 DCLB yesterday and it has 'light surface corrosion' on the frame. I asked to check it out on the lift and the Toyota mechanic and salesperson were both heavily pushing me to get the frame undercoated.
Maybe this is some bull crap scam the higher ups are telling their people to tell the owners to get corporate out of paying for a new frame.

OP, sorry to hear what happened to you but thank you for the heads up for the rest of us.
I hope you can fight their decision.

Listen to me carefully. Get off the Internet and contact the attorneys below, and explain to them exactly what's going on. They have a lawsuit against Toyota for this issue, and may be able to add you as a plaintiff.
