Same talk track those of us with a howl between 35-45 are getting. "They all do it" The funny thing is I test drove two new Tacoma's and they both did it as well as the truck the dealer's Service Operations Manager tested. I have escalated to no avail. Just going to have to wait for more complaints hopefully an eventual TSB.

It sucks when an issue is met with "they all do it" Never thought I would hear that from Toyota. Heard it all the time on my domestics. So much for QDR

I tested my truck at 80MPH and did not have vibes so I guess I dodged that bullet...for now.

I got the same BS excuse until I told them I wasn't leaving until they replaced my tire or prove it wasn't defective. They put it on the road force balancer and discovered it was defective. New tire, problem solved.

I find it interesting that, rather than testing the Off-Road they said they'd check for you, they test the Sport and Limited models only, call it normal, and say nothing about the OR.

Different tires on the OR too. I've seen a few people here that have had one or two defective ones replaced like me.

I feel sorry for you guys, I went though a vibration/shake issue in my last to Tacoma Sport 2012 and my 2014 which was bought back though lemon law. It's
so common for dealership to try a few things then just call it normal or that's how they are all, then throw you to the curb. I feel like we has consumers did
more options for being able to return a vehicle if unsatisfied being though a better lemon law procedures or some other avenue. Sometimes things just can't
be fixed or dealers and manufacture just don't care but that's not the consumers fault

I had mine back in the shop for another issue and spoke with the service manager. They said they've noticed it on other incoming vehicles and are trying to figure it out at upper levels. Thankfully I haven't gotten the "normal" line quite yet. But we'll see.

Was able to speak with Toyota Customer Care. They were very patient and understanding and, after speaking with a supervisor, the CSR is forwarding it to a senior case manager. It was interesting to note that he was quick to say how many Toyotas I have purchased over the years. It was after I said that I wasn't too sure how long I could keep the truck with the vibration issue that he spoke with his supervisor. They do not want me to get rid of the truck and said they would do whatever it takes to keep me a happy Toyota customer.

I'm curious how this plays out and truly hope that they find an easy solution.

I've driven a 1300 mile trip in mine since the breaking in and did not experience any vibration in steering or pedals, but mine has a manual tranny (DCSB Sport 4x4 mt). 2000-2500 rpm is my typical cruising speed out in the valleys and plains and very smooth.

It's definitely something with the automatic transmission and the engine working together to create the vibration. There are no reports I know of with the manual trans.

I am surprised nobody else has raised this issue here. Doesn't sound like it is as common as the dealer is saying. I intend to watch this thread closely as I have a TRD Sport DCLB coming. No cash has exchanged hands yet and none will if I have to deal with this type of problem. With taxes and extended care I am going to have $52K into the truck and that for me is a lot of pension money!

Ford Sales Manager is my next door neighbour.

i have a definate vibration at 2200 rpms in my 4x4 sport.. Long story short i took vehicle in and the service dept blamed it on my Ko2 tires (it was the same with stock tires by the way)...trying not to get infuritated with there responce I jumped into a 2 wheel drive off road and test drove it and there is "something " happening with the motor at 2200 rpms but not even close to the vibration i get in the sport,,... So my question is - is it more noticable in a 4x4 than a 2 wheel drive or is it sports and limited 4 wheel drives vs off road? I will try and test drive a off road 4x4 and go from there....

It appears to be most prevalent in 4x4, Automatic Transmission, Sport and Limited Models. I drove three automatic 4x4 Off-Roads and couldn't find the problem. In fact, the original dealership's second answer to this problem was "take an Off-Road for an hour and if it doesn't have the issue we'll sell that one to you." So I took the Off-Road for an hour and couldn't find the problem on it. But I didn't let them sell me the Off-Road as an answer to the problem.

So they offered to take your sport back and get you in an offroad with no vibration with no cost to you?

I hope toyota figures this out soon. I plan on ordering a '16 TRD Sport 4x4 in a couple of months. My local dealer hasn't gotten any TRD Sports in to test drive yet. They expect one next week. I will check it out.

Oh no, it was at a cost to me. Once you drive a new car off the lot, it's used. There's no "three-day return" provision where I live. So they offered to "trade out" my Sport and sell me the Off-Road with no vibration. That means they low-ball the trade in value of the Sport and quoted me the Off-Road at a slightly less MSRP. Net result was a loss of several thousand. No go.

So for those of you who haven't taken delivery, insist that your dealer let you test drive the truck for an hour on your own and check it out before you sign the papers and drive it off the lot. Some will let you do that so long as you don't put more than 50 miles on the test drive. I only drove mine around the block and that wasn't enough to discover this.

    Very Interesting!

Just got back from a 500 mile trip, travelling across the Navajo Nation, doing business setups. Found a new spot where the vibration comes in long and hard. Was on US 40 E/B in slushy conditions with the cruise control on. I began to climb a slight grade and the vehicle kicked down to 5th, and the vibrations came back. Then, the grade got steeper and the trans kicked to 4th and went to 3500RPM to maintain the speed and BOOM....all the way up the grade at 3500RPM the steering wheel and floorboard vibration got pretty intense. Hit the crest, turned off the cruise (I've noticed it'll stay in a lower gear unless you take the cruise off...), upshifted to 5th, and the vibration went away as the RPMs dropped below that 3500RPM. Now, I've got it pegged to be the worst between 2100-2300ish RPM and then the new 3500RPM discovery....

The theory that it is a transmission problem seems quite logical and I have figured that the cruise control issue of not shifting up once a load is gone is, too, related to the transmission and faulty programming. The cruise doesn't work well unless you are a perfectly flat surface. Otherwise, the trans will downshift to maintain speed on grades of any kind but fail to upshift once you are past the grade. Tested this on rolling hilly run through The Res and it would never upshift going down any hills it had to downshift to pull.

I spoke at length to a Monique, who is a senior case manager with Toyota Customer Care on Tuesday afternoon and now have two case numbers with Toyota (one dealer and one mine). I pressed that this was not just an annoyance but a safety issue (I've now read other posts elsewhere where people have their arms going numb to the elbows) and, IMHO, a long-term reliability issue as the vibration has to create infrastructure issues.

I told Monique that I was pressing this issue to either be resolved or I was going to be forced to dump the truck as this was horrid R&D for a MY 2016 vehicle and it was even more perplexing in that it was a Toyota flagship vehicle that was proudly introduced as a total, great, amazing, etc re-design.

The drum beat goes on in the quest for a fix!

Damn, You're a good sport. What did you replace with after 2 tries?

Really bad to spend all that money on a truck with a problem they haven't fixed since 2005. At least you are realistic and will dump it if the repair attempts fail.
