Zymol - Buy it at autozone, maybe walmart. I used to have a black is250 and the swirl marks drove me crazy. Found that Zymol stuff at autozone and it was a life saver. Its not a permanent fix but it did a great job.

dude blaming the dealer and hammering their survey is an asshole move! you picked black and a brand new black truck with no miles will have scratches! it'll look a million times worse a year from now. don't want any swirls or micro scratches visible in sunlight??? pick white!

This^^^ No issues at all with mine almost a month later.

Black looks amazing on a Tacoma, but biggest mistake & headache I ever made getting one. Got hooked bc she looked damn sexy on the lot, while not knowing how over-sensitive her color is.
Fast forward 9 months...sold & went with white. Can enjoy a truck now without having to avoid fun.
If you're ocd (like me;)) about scratches, buff marks; you'll be hatin' it. Toyota's black = ridiculously too delicate. Looking at her wrong, will scratch!
Best advice: research how to maintain black on TW's forums, hand wash and use protective wax every 2-3 months or find a real good detailer, stay away from automatic car washes, avoid OR trails with brush, open areas are best.
    Shame on Toyota's paint team.

Mine has swirl marks too, and I had it opticoated pretty soon after bringing it home. It also came with a nice scratch that someone had put touch up paint on from the port. I had opti coat done almost right away and that's helped I'm sure, since water beads right off now and no need to wax. It's getting the clear bra today since I've already had to touch the hood up. I think the Toyota paint is just a lot crappier than I'm used to. I've had several brand new black cars and don't remember having this much trouble

Have a professional detailer work their magic with a clean, color correct and seal. You should probably put one of those hard glass finishes on it at the same time. Expect to pay around $600 or more.

I have a 15 MGM and was wondering about how it would swirl or scratch. Two days ago some unidentified person defined it for me at work:

Too much work. I would rather be doing other things than trying to keep a black truck/car clean from swirl marks. Go siliver tacoma

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I do. But once I spend about 6 hours polishing and waxing the truck, I don't notice them anymore.

OP, your best bet is to live with wash scratches, but a good detailer will be able to get your paint looking like it should. It could EASILY take someone who knows what they are doing four hours or more just to fix your paint. If you want black to stay looking good you will become a slave to your truck, that's why I said get used to wash scratches.

I had a 2012 black Golf GTI and was using a cleaner wax on the paint every second wash just to get rid of the spider web scratches just washing the car would leave behind. Yes I know how to wash a car properly. It requires two different wash mitts, two buckets of water and a paint brush.

I was in charge of a detail shop in the early 90s and I was in charge of wet sanding and polishing some of the cars that came into the shop, and I was the only one who polished black cars. We dealt only with high end exotics. Back then 348 Ferraris, Testarossas, and Diablos were high end hitters.

There is a lot of good info in the detail section of this forum.

I'll PM you later with some tips but for now, never wash your truck in direct sunlight, only wash your truck when your paint is cool and don't let any part of your truck dry while washing it. Pull your truck into the garage to dry it if you have one.

I know how to look after black paint and I made my wife promise me never to let me get another black vehicle.

The MGM colour is only slightly better to deal with.

A brand new truck and you purchased it in that condition!Makes no sense!Sounds like the truck was designated for a beginners auto detailing class before it was sold to yourself or eventually someone else!Unexcebtable OP no matter what phenomenal deal you got!

    Same here.

Forget all the big name waxes and polishes out there. This is the best polish to use.... IMHO, it's what I'd use on any dark paint. The results are impressive.

Yeah I am getting lazy in my older age so I take it to a detail shop in the spring and just before winter. In between I use Eagle One, Wax as U - Dry every week when I wash and hand dry my truck. One or 2 sprays per wet panel is all you need. Wonderful product. I get mine at O'Reilly's.

I used a similar product made by Mothers every time I washed my Golf and I still use it on my white Taco after every other wash. Easy enough to use between fully waxing the paint which I only do once a month now.

I bought a new black MDX back in 2007. It was covered in swirls. I brought it up to the dealer when we were finalizing the deal.
They promised (in writing) to make it right.
I took the Acura back a few weeks later and left it for a couple days.

Now, I do not know what they did. and I think they sent it out or had a pro come to their shop.
But holy heck that car was PERFECT!!!
