None. I paased smog, so sweat.

We don't have inspections in Cali, instead they just kill us with fees and taxes. Just make sure you're good to go in your state.

You might have some physical impacts, especially if you do a lot of slow speed off-road driving. The tailpipe also dumps heat and dumping lots of heat under your truck could melt something. I've heard of this happening to all sorts of different vehicle models.

@MonkeyProof Tom, wat did you hit? lol

You're generalizing. On the Tacoma nothing bad is going to happen. People been doing it for years without issue.

I remember someone (maybe @HomerTaco ?) posting recently about having to have it routed out from under the vehicle according to state law. may want to research that

Ain't that the truth! I have a question for you, does cutting off the TRD exhaust tip cause any drone or excessive sound? I'm planning on leaving the last hanger on as you did hoping to keep the pipe solid while offroading.

I had to go back in time to see what I wrote, here it is from May 2014:

It's slight though, probably only you would notice, not your passengers.

Here is a funny thread from a few years ago about cutting the tailpipe.

    Bilstein 5100
    Manufacturer part no. 24-239370

I put the 5100 in before breakfast this morning. No sweat. Got a crappy alignment at Firestone. Then went to speed bump proving grounds, lol, and drove over a bunch.

    Problem is gone!

The OME have 5K miles on them and look like they've got 50K! What a nightmare.

The longer droop the 5100 provided made me rotate the coil spring to avoid UCA contact.

Now I can't wait to go wheeling again. Thanks to everyone who commented and provided encouragement.

Wow great to hear you have solved the issue man!! Does it feel like the 5100's have more dampening also? I may want replace my OME struts with the 5100's when I move the 886x coils!

The OME 90021 shock was like a piece of chain locking the LCA to the frame. I went wheeling today and all I can say is the 5100 was like the key that unlocked my front suspension. I had a lot more wheel travel than I ever before, I found new places I rub in the wheel well. And best of all is the ride! I aired down to 15 PSI and between that, and the new 5100 it was like riding in a Cadillac off road. I drove on two different trails, one had very large burms which are like enormous speed bumps, I'd roll right over them and some fast too with no problems. We were having so much fun, we did the trail 3 times! Holy shit!

Next we went on a really rough road with constant baseball / softball sized rocks, no problems encountered. No thuds, bangs, or other stupid noises. Like floating on clouds! In fact, it's like having a whole new truck. I couldn't believe it. I don't know how to describe it, but the 5100 seems to allow the coil to compress better off road, and with the added length, there is no "topping out issues" that I could find.

Based on today's experience, I can highly recommend to anyone who wheels their truck with OME shocks to abandon the OME for the 5100.

Today I got out with the kids. We went to Sheephead mountain in Cleveland Natl. Forest.

It all started when I was out front and saw these storm clouds. I was also dying to try some off road trails after installing the new Bilstein 5100 shocks up front.

I made pack lunches, stuffed into cooler, tossed into the truck. Buckled kids in, strapped hi-lift, air compressor, tools, tire kit in and we were off the the mountains. I love storms and we like to explore, so sometimes we combine the two.

Trail side I aired down to 15 PSI and we followed the fun trail up the mountain. We saw nobody on the trail and passed no one. We had the whole mountain to ourselves. The ride up the mountain was excellent.

I found a place to park off the main trail. We were setting up for a picnic after some fun. Kids began to collect rocks and find interesting things to play with.

We climbed up to the top of the mountain and took some pics. It was very windy and cold on the top so we didn't stay long before ducking back down for our picnic.

The Bilstein 5100 shocks completely solved the trucks performance problem. I couldn't be more happy. :)

Yeah I added some more txt to that post. Having the 5100 on the truck, I really wanted to get out there. I'm so thrilled it worked as intended. :)

Good to hear. Now I am wondering how they would perform with 886 coils. Mine isn't as bad as you described but certainly has topped out before.

I was just planning to wait and get some kings or icons.
