Does the towing package come standard on the DCTRDOR or is that an additional cost?

I was told all of the V6s come with the tow package. Not sure if that's just here in SoCal, or everywhere. Even though it comes "standard", you still have to pay for that package.

I have the TRD OR and was charged $650.00 extra, but I think they are optionally listed if you order one through toyota.

It's part of the stability control system. The idea is that when the trailer starts a-sway'n the system asymmetrically applies the brakes of the truck to damp* the oscillations.

That's what I remember. I could be wrong. Or full of crap. That's always an option.

*No mater how bad I screw up my grammar from here on out, I would like it duly noted that on this date that I used the term "damp" instead of "dampen" because the system doesn't asymmetrically spritz water on the trailer. That wouldn't work for shit.

Don't remember where I saw it; but, I believe "power steering cooler" means some of the hydraulic lines are sort of corrugated. Seems a stretch for Toyota to call that a cooler; hence, my original "cooler".

    TSC = VSC for towing.

    Since you mentioned it...

In this instance, dampen would be correct; because, dampen is a verb that can mean: to make less strong or intense.

Damp is usually used as an adjective; but, to my surprise is also a noun and a verb. So, it is also correct; but, sounds completely wrong to me.

    I would have used dampen.

See? I can't even get my smart-ass comments right. Certainly not my area of expertize (grammar). "Dampening" was the often misused word I was looking for. I just need to go to bed. For the record, I would be hard pressed to use dampen in the context of oscillations, but I could be doing it wrong: The circuit damps the oscillations. This circuit will damp the oscillations. The oscillations are damped by this circuit. This circuit is damping the oscillations. I guess I could see how you could use "dampen", I just wouldn't, but that doesn't mean anything really.

Sorry to take the thread off-topic.

I realize this note in Wikipedia is referring to "dampening" instead of "dampen", but included FWIW:

    Errors in popular usage[edit]

It has become common in popular English, especially in science fiction,
[10][11] to substitute the word dampening when the concept of damping is intended. Defined as to make damp or to stifle,[12] dampening can be correctly used to describe depressing the intensity of an emotion, but should not be used to describe the reduction in amplitude of a force, a harmonic oscillation, or similar physical processes or phenomena. For such phenomena, "damping" is the correct word.

Yes, damp is the correct verb. Dampen, as a verb, is to wet or suppress emotions.

I learned this from Dirt Bike Magazine about 15 years ago in a Q&A column they wrote

Dampen is also correct. It also means: to make less strong or intense.
