About to pull the trigger on a new Tacoma and want to get some new wheels/tires to go with it.

Looking to keep the TRD OR suspension stock for now and get a 3" lift when the time is right. Wanted to go with a 265/75/16 tire and wheel package, problem is I don't know my ass from elbow when it comes to truck wheel sizes and offset; I come from the car world and this is my first truck ever.

What wheel size would you recommend for that size tire? Offset? Don't want any rubbing or the need to mod the wheel wells. Would like to achieve a look like this (stolen from another TW member): b48f717b_b56a226619e4ab2a54c800fdbe0829fc131feae8.jpg

As far as tires, looking at the Duratracs. I live in central NC so muddy trails and beach will be more on the menu than deserts and rocks. Good choice?

You will probably have to go with a wheel having 0 offset for the best chance of not rubbing with 265/75/16 tires or you will need to lift to accommodate a negative offset wheel. I have 265/75/16 Duratracs on SRS SR8 wheels with -12 offset and a 3" lift and still have minimal rubbing IMG_0461.jpg

So your saying I'll probably be rubbing with 265/70/17s on stock suspension with -10 offset wheels?... Are you rubbing on the cab or just the flaps? Not getting an aggressive tire, the Nitto G2s...

I had to take my front mud flaps off and still have a bit of rubbing on the inside flap. No cab rubbing. A wheel with -10 to -12 offset push the tire out and thus cause the tire to have a wider sweep and requiring a bit more room.

I am successfully running that size on a STOCK steel wheel, and the 265/70-17 on a 07 sport aluminum optional wheel.

    Would a - 6 offset also require a lift?
