I took my truck in to get looked at the other day due to some squeaky suspension and while they are looking at the truck they asked me if Ive been in an accident being its a brand new truck and Im the only owner of it. I never noticed but my hood is not aligned correctly and on one side the panel where the hood lays on didn't have a factory vin sticker to show its the original piece. Have any of you heard of this happening on a brand new car before? Id be pretty pissed if I bought a new truck thats not what its suppose to be.

I have heard of it happening.

When I sold new Toyotas (in a differnt state than I live now) a crash causing =< 3% of the vehicles cost did not have to be reported to the buyer of the new, never titled, vehicle.

I've also heard of body shops that would create more than one invoice to ensure the repair cost were at or under the 3% number.

That's not fraud? I'm paying thousands of dollars for a perfect condition car not something defective

If I found my new purchase vehicle was crashed/damaged before it was titled & it was un-disclosed, I'd be pissed man.

I don't see your location but, find your local/state law and see if it exceeds the damage allowed if you have a truck that was damaged before you got it new.

In the case(s) I saw it was within the rules. But, creating more than one invoice to keep the repair(s) under the threshold not so much.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Unless there is a state law that says differently for your state then the federal law applies: The Federal Damage disclosure law require dealers to disclose damage in excess of 25% of the retail value at the time of the accident.

Looks like for Mississippi it is 6% of retail (msrp) Source

Wow that's ridiculous. I checked laws for Florida it's "3% or 650$ whichever is lower". do yall know if 650$ would include just parts or repair time because I'm guessing a dealership can get a new panel for less than 650$

Sorry OP, I thought that you lived in Mississippi. That is why I posted info for that state..Anyway, I think you should contact the dealer ASAP and ask for more specifcs of the accident, then compensation, maybe 3% - 8%.

Picked up truck from getting services turns out wasn't suspension squeaking was loose bolts on radiator support. I also checked all the tacomas on lot while I was there and none have vin stickers so the guy who mentioned them to me apparently was out dated. Also ran a carfax and it came back clean so I'll try and see if panel was repainted because if not It would be hard to prove car was in accident if it was
