I was shopping for a winter beater, then decided I didn't want to drive around in a PoS and wanted something that looked good, was reliable, versatile, and had character...and found myself looking for a pickup, and naturally gravitated towards a Toyota Tacoma! I liked the size and look of the 1st generation, otherwise I would have bought a 2nd gen.

Yesterday I just picked this up from a used car dealership.

    2004 Double Cab, 4x4, V6, SR5, TRD Off Road, Automatic. 91K miles.

Paid $14,500 and it comes with a 3-month, 5000 mile comprehensive warranty. All in all, I'm quite happy with my purchase! :)

    Belts replaced at 78K miles.
The engine compartment was very clean.
The frame was coated by the Toyota dealership back in 2012. It's black and tacky.
Rear shocks were very recently replaced by the previous owner.
Entire truck (including frame) went through multi-point inspection three weeks ago at a Toyota service center.

The previous owner appears to have put some aftermarket parts on this truck...

    - LED headlights
    - Power sunroof
    - Pioneer head unit with bluetooth and satellite radio. Speakers may or may not be stock. Not sure. Bluetooth mic is wired through the A-pillar.
    - There's a switch below the ashtray. Not sure what it's for, but it doesn't appear to do anything.
    - The exhaust appears newer, and may be aftermarket. Not sure.

I drove it 120 miles home last night and the engine/transmission feels nice and strong! It doesn't drive or handle like a sports car, but I didn't expect it to! The thing rumbles at highway speeds. Brakes aren't exactly confidence-inspiring. I'm going to change them for Tundra brakes (as I've been reading about others doing).

    Now onto the photos!!

Nice Truck.... I paid 15k for my truck in january this year.

It looks like your truck has the SR5 color package. The only thing is the TRD sticker on the bed it looks a little low.....

Do you have the diff lock button in there?

opteron - Yes, there's a button for the diff lock to the left of the steering column, and there's a white sticker on the driver's door with some sort of instruction/warning regarding the operation of the diff lock.

That's a badass price for a badass truck. That truck would easily be 15k+ on Craigslist in Southern California.

This exhaust seems newer/different than what I've seen from other Tacomas. Is it just me? What do you guys think? Stock or aftermarket?

Sweet find! Very nice pickup! Looks well cared for, low miles. But it's pretty amazing that a 12yr old truck still sells for $14K! Them Tacoma's do hold their value.
