So gun question boys. Thinking I'd like to get an ar, rifle or some sort of shotgun for my birthday. Leaning towards an ar, but there are so many platforms and kits out there that I don't know where to start. Not looking for the nicest, something more budget friendly. Andy suggestions? S&W has a decently priced one, and I believe bushmaster did too. Not going to put 1000's of rounds through a year, just want something fun for plinking targets here and there and what not.

    Suggestions?

    Some stuff here and there....
For the budget consumer the s&w Is nice rifle. I believe a couple places have them fi r around 600 bucks. The bushmaster is around the sameprice. I personally liked the s&w tho. My .02

DA BIG ISLAND LIFE! My parents live in Kona.

Absolutely LOVE it there. @iJonny hit it on the spot. Every other vehicle there is a DB Tacoma.

Whoever is heading over there, have fun and enjoy it!

Check out Palmetto State Armory, they have tons of sales and I'm sure they will have a big black Friday sale. Mine is nothing special, but their barrels are made by FN, overall very good reviews and can get a complete AR in 223/556 for around $600, and on weekend or holiday deals you can get them for less

Or piece it together as deals show up. It's been long enough, I don't remember the details of mine, but mostly built myself.

Buying a complete upper and a separate lower while either is on sale and completing that way can save you some good money and also make a unique combo. Completely building your own can save money, but there also can be a few armory tools you should purchase to assemble correctly and with out damaging parts so maybe factor in 50-100$ to that method for tools.
Be warned this can also go the complete opposite and your build can turn from a budget build into a beast, like in my case while waiting for my tax stamp to return I somehow ended up spending 4K+ in parts over 6 months...... I do love my build though by far my favorite ar.
If interested I have a never shot pretty much a safe queen S&W Magpul edition MP15 it's the same as the sport edition every one mentioned but with upgraded, stock, hand guard, grip, rear site, and Magpul stamped lower.

Aaron and I are going to go shoot some handguns tomorrow at shooters world. We gotta figure out what we like and want. I think I'm going to get a shield or xdm if I like it and ditch my revolver
